Decks, mixers and headphones...

I sold my Tech 1210's and Numark Mixer a couple years back and would like to get some advice on new equipment. I know Tech 1210'/1200's don't really lose value, but I'm, this time around, wanting some advice on CD players. What would you invest into?

2 Decks + 1 Mixer + Headphones

Genre: Uplifting/Progressive/Tech Trance.

Price doesn't matter

Switch the DJM800 over to an Allen & Heath XONE62 or XONE92...!

Agree though, the other stuff is the best money can buy.

zone ftl :P

if money all of a sudden becomes an issue, for a home setup i rekon u cant go past 2 cdj200's or 800's and a djm400 mixer

pioneer ftw!

if you have all the money in the world and are serious about your DJ'ing then yeah go all out and get the best money can buy... which is pioneer all the way!

if you dont have the cash, go for steves suggestion, great starting equipment right there!

I would agree but add a numark DXM09 for the mixer, I own one with 2 cdj 800s and it's a decent home setup for money. The DXM09 is about 500-$600 and probably the best value mixer in that price bracket.

Can't recommend that enough to anyone who doesnt want to dish out loads of money, i love mine to death

I'm also hoping to buy some decks by the end of the year: however, unlike dan, money is an issue

I'm looking to spend around $1,400- and hoping to get at least cdj200s with some sort of mixer-- does anyone know any good sites/places that sell packages?

the closest deal i've found is THIS but it's pretty fkn expensive, and has stuff i don't need (headphones etc)

Is it best to buy a pack, or just buy it all seperately? the 200's are about 700 on that site, and could just get a cheaper mixer...?

Posted by vanilla_cola on Nov-01-2007 04:16:

Hmm at that price your really looking at no better than 100's or second hand goods. Best thing you can do is take a trip to malaysia lol! I got my 800's at $1600 for both over there, failing that, ebay is your friend! :P

nice!
I've seen alot of pioneer stuff on eBay that's shipped from HK etc: wondered if it's fake...

yeah, i don't mind too much if it's second hand either: just looking for an alright setup, but don't have much money

Posted by vanilla_cola on Nov-01-2007 04:32:

Only consider the stuff which is in your state and has local pickup (or message them and ask), that way you can go check out the goods before you purchase.

You can get complete setups there for a good price second hand, I got 2x 100s and 1 3 channel numark mixer in a case for $750 when I decided I just wanted some decks to screw around on. Just keep an eye out!

Posted by mmkoiman on Nov-01-2007 05:08:

jordo - grab second hand CDJ100's as they do the job just as well as the 200's and get a numark DXM06 mixer... quality piece of equipment and perfect to get started on. they go for around $400-$500 if i remember correctly...

...on top of that you're gunna need to consider an amp and speakers or self powered monitors if you wanna skip the amp idea if i get you and rad over for a mixy sesh soon i'll show ya my monitors (which is what i'd suggest)..

on that site the djm 400 is $840, so you could probably save 300 or 400 by getting a cheaper mixer at least and maybe ditch the headphones and case. if you talk to them you might be able to get a good deal or swap some stuff out, compared to what is just listed on the site. thats what i did for my setup

Posted by Deeman on Nov-01-2007 05:10:

Bags in for mix sesh Jed ... well overdue!

Posted by DJ_Ballistic on Nov-01-2007 05:10:

markup on dj equipment is ridiculous, you can usually talk the price down a bit, i bought my 800's 2 years ago for $850 each, from an australian seller.

i'd buy 100's tho if u wanna save money, they do the job, you just wanna make sure you buy a mixer with good sound quality, ie pioneer or a&h

Posted by Deeman on Nov-01-2007 05:14:

Yep I still have 100's and they do the job no worries!
200's are also good

But I'll take an 1000MK3 any day of the week though hehehe!
