Evolution of Humanity.
| quote: |
| Human race will 'split into two different species' The human race will one day split into two separate species, an attractive, intelligent ruling elite and an underclass of dim-witted, ugly goblin-like creatures, according to a top scientist. 100,000 years into the future, sexual selection could mean that two distinct breeds of human will have developed. The alarming prediction comes from evolutionary theorist Oliver Curry from the London School of Economics, who says that the human race will have reached its physical peak by the year 3000. These humans will be between 6ft and 7ft tall and they will live up to 120 years. "Physical features will be driven by indicators of health, youth and fertility that men and women have evolved to look for in potential mates," says the report, which suggests that advances in cosmetic surgery and other body modifying techniques will effectively homogenise our appearance. Men will have symmetrical facial features, deeper voices and bigger penises, according to Curry in a report commissioned for men's satellite TV channel Bravo. Women will all have glossy hair, smooth hairless skin, large eyes and pert breasts, according to Curry. Racial differences will be a thing of the past as interbreeding produces a single coffee-coloured skin tone. The future for our descendants isn't all long life, perfect bodies and chiselled features, however. While humans will reach their peak in 1000 years' time, 10,000 years later our reliance on technology will have begun to dramatically change our appearance. Medicine will weaken our immune system and we will begin to appear more child-like. Dr Curry said: "The report suggests that the future of man will be a story of the good, the bad and the ugly. |
Will? pssh, it's already done that.
So in the future there will be a Mordor?
Physical evolution has pretty much ceased in my opinion. There will be subtle changes, as the guy mentioned through sexual selection. I think uglier, less intelligent people will slowly ween their way out of the species until they're almost nonexistent. We no longer really need to evolve physically to adhere to our environment since we've developed technology that can essentially allow us to survive anywhere (within reason). I do agree to an extent that our dependence on technology will be an achilles heal, but at the same time viruses, bacteria and sickness will likely have much less effect since we'll probably have the means to overcome any ailment, assuming new diseases don't sprout up any more consistently than they already do. I think the most notable evolution will be the evolution of our own brains and in the technologies we produce. This is all of course if we don't wipe ourselves out within the next couple centuries.
Very stupid.
"These humans will be between 6ft and 7ft tall and they will live up to 120 years."
We already live 120+ years. I'm pretty DAMN SURE in 1000 years medical technology will have advanced just a little.
global warming, Israel, Bush and outsourcing mean that our entire species will be dead within 20 years. For those people 19 or under, sorry, life won't even get the chance to begin at 40 for you. For neo, you'll still be legally able to draw your old age pension before it happens

There are so many viruses or diseases we have no answer for yet, there's no reason to believe this state of affairs will ever change as viruses and disease evolve much faster than our scientific knowledge. |

Our current environment promotes stagnancy. It's too forgiving of undesirable phenotypes. In fact, many of the least desirable are also the most successful at reproducing.
What we really need is an environment that suits our evolutionary reality - one which seperates the proverbial wheat from the chaff. After all, that's how we developed what we have today. Don't be so quick to embrace a safe, comfortable lifestyle for all humanity. It could be what's worst for us.
