Fuk Arod!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was the biggest AROD supporter, but FUK that piece of $hit, Greedy motha fuker!!

Scott boras is ruining baseball!!!! I hope Cashman sticks to his word and doesn't offer that douche a contract. And peter gammons was right, disrespect for baseball.

EDIT: Does anyone know whether the yankees get free agency draft pick compensation for AROD?

My bad....here's a source. NY Times article

|||||

Alex wanted to know what the composition of the team was going to be, Boras said. What those players are going to do is important. He didnt want to have a deadline on making this decision. Boras spoke to General Manager Brian Cashman about Rodriguezs decision by telephone.

What a great quote. he didn't want to make a decision before he knew what was going to happen with the team. I would say opting out of a contract is making that decision, especially when he knows the yankees aren't going to bid up his contract price.

I'll deff. hear about it tomorrow

I was a huge arod fan too but I said it before the playoffs started, this guy is the biggest choke when it comes to playoffs.

I hope they don't offer him a new contract

I can't say I'm bothered or surprised...There was no way A-rod was gonna return with Posada,,Pettites and Rivera's Yankee future still hanging in the balance...I doubt if it was anything to do with money from A-Rods point of view..

As for Boras,,he's just a scum bag and the announcement was untimely...He hoped that the A-Rod controversy would be overshadowed by Red Sox victory....

I guess the yankees are going to make an offer for Lowell....???

well, i guess on the brightside, AROD was pretty far from being a great bang for the buck.

After we were eliminated on Saturday, the media asked me a lot of questions regarding my future in New York -- whether I want to leave, or if I will be traded, etc. I will tell you what I told them: I am 100 percent committed to being a Yankee now and in the future. I don't want to play anywhere else. I never have (and never will) run away from the responsibility I have to this team. I believe I am part of the solution to winning a championship here. I want to finish my career in New York.

Welcome to not making the playoffs next year, guys!

Though, I could see them trading for Johan now.

no, Mr. Oct-0-fer

Professional athletes are loyal to their team (and their team's fans) during their contractual obligations, but are more loyal to themselves (and their family) when they are free to be. Johnny Damon is another example of that.

This makes no sense. The Yankees were going to offer him around 240 million, right? Is there really a team in baseball that would offer more than that?

I suppose the Sox could but they won't - Epstein has said in the past that he's glad the original deal fell through (me too) and since then the Sox have avoided offering long term deals to mega market, older players. I expect them to pay top dollar on a four year deal for Lowell but I guess there is a small possibility they sign A-Rod to play....short stop.

My money's on him moving to the California where he can play in a largely pressure free environment, stockpile his numbers and be generally ignored by all those who really care about baseball. He would definitely fill the void of the other power hitter the Angels have been looking for.

The bottom line is A-Rod is all about A-Rod and no matter how much he wants to make it about his teammates it's really all about him. He never liked being second fiddle to Jeter, he hated being booed and he hated being scrutinized in the playoffs when he put up big numbers in the regular season. In short, he's a bitch.

I really dont give a shit. Save the money from clemens and a-rod and put together a 1998-type team.

Best statement ever....I am happy to see him go!!! Never warmed up to him. Can respect him for the numbers he put up but other then that no way. We can find someone better for 3rd base. Someone that actually dives for the ball everyone and awhile.

But yes I am dying to see who picks him up.

Posted by stevebutabi on Oct-29-2007 15:09:

The timing of the announcement guaranteed that Alex will be hated by NYY fans for a long long time. I'm not sure if he really cares.

I don't much care, because wanted his salary allocated to pitching from the start.

Posted by partyhopper on Oct-29-2007 18:44:

He also showed up MLB by not showing up at the WS to receive the Hank Aaron Award that he won

Can we get Soriano back and move him to third ?? I always thought he was a sick player and should have remained a yankee.

not possible at all, Soriano makes way too much money and he's a defensive liability. Looks like Betemit is the 3rd baseman of the future...

Gerardi got the job then....

NICE!!!!!!!!

And betemint isn't the 3rd baseman of the future. The yanks will offer for lowell and may make an offer for inge. They can also move duncan (not shelly) back to third and watch him progress in the minors. Also, if arod goes to the angels, they will have less of a need for figgons. i can't imagine they would want to trade figgons, but he would be displaced.

I also think the yankees need to offer for barry bonds. We just lost a huge bat and bonds still wants to play. regardless of what you think about bonds, he's still a huge threat.

Posted by saltytheseagull on Oct-29-2007 23:20:

Scott Boras imo is part of the problem, but there's not really a whole lot that can be done about that. I feel the Yankees will fall apart next year. They will lose ARod, Posada, and Rivera. In addition to Mattingly not returning to be a bench coach. Oh well...
