At Least Our Comedians Get It...

George Carlin Questions "Received Reality" Of 9/11 Story

Grammy award winning comedian, actor says new investigation would be whitewash

Grammy-winning American stand-up comedian, actor, and author George Carlin spoke of his doubts about the official 9/11 story during a recent appearance at Borders bookstore in New York City, just a few blocks away from ground zero.

Asked what he thought of the 9/11 truth movement and how Bill Maher's show was interrupted by truthers last week, Carlin responded, "I always question the received reality."

"The consensus reality is often intentionally misleading," he added.

Carlin was described by Comedy Central as the second greatest stand-up comedian of all time behind Richard Prior and is famous for his scathing black humor directed at American culture and the political climate.

During a recent appearance on Keith Olbermann's MSNBC show, Carlin said that America was "finished" because "no one questions things anymore" and that the population had been bought off by distractions, toys and gizmos.

Watch a stand-up routine where Carlin slams the education system and talks about the true power system that controls America.

Of all the issues (either underlying or superfluous) that could be raised here and you're only able to comment about the quality of his jokes?

I've always been a Carlin fan. He's pretty much the best living comedian I can think of.

The point that you and all of your nonthinking friends need to get is that he actually uses his mental faculties for something else other than his job.

He employs critical thinking skills and you could obviously learn something from him

ha ha ha ok sparky...... you got me..... we should all take cues from a comedian on critical thinking.....

Posted by pkcRAISTLIN on Oct-29-2007 22:37:

haha @ "sparky"!

and yeah, its funny what the CTers will do. here they're making a brand new thread on what some comedian thinks about 9/11. which is a smoking gun if ever i've seen one!!

how many comedians do you think it would take to build something like the twin towers?

honestly, this thread is shit and should be locked.

Wow, now you're proposing censorship? Never thought I'd hear that from PKC.

So what- every time tom, dick or harry mentions 911 it deserves its own thread? There are already a bazillion 911 threads, why can't it go in one of those?

Because those threads suck, like most massive PDD threads tend to at some point.

Jon Stewart knows...

Jon Stewart (on CNN's Crossfire, circa 2004) makes mention of the media's "partisan hacks"

Can I close the massive threads then and keep the discussion here? PKC does have a point - there are about 911 threads about 9/11

And merging so many massive threads would probably cause the server to collapse, as a giant black hole located in Toronto would swallow all of us into its deep and dark... erm... holeness

No...

This isn't really even a 9/11 thread.

And I thought that the servers were in Texas

I was just about to say that that would be a question that I'm sure would be better asked in the Romanian or Russian forum but I just noticed that you guys don't even have one.

Yeah, I know that Swamper lives in Toronto but TranceAddict relies on ThePlanet.com for their web hosting.

From the link that I posted, which you so casually passed over:

I skipped over it because a 'whois' doesn't normally give a physical location, just where the domain was registered...

Those comedians possess a tremendous amount of insight, something which I think that you're overlooking simply because they aren't authority figures to you.

If you were using critical thinking skills (as opposed to mindlessly relying on an authority figure to tell you what to think) you'd probably realize that

yeah. comedians know more about 911 than engineers!

it'd be funny if it wasn't so tragic. because a comedian agrees with our paranoid friend, he has "a tremendous amount of insight" whereas those of us that listen to engineers are "mindlessly relying on authority figure[s]".

doesn't anyone find such blatant intellectual dishonesty annoying?
