Shooting at DNA?

Apparently there was a shootout outside DNA last night. All i have to say is "whut whut" did you expect?

Best part about this is how Adam Vaughan got on tv just now and actually admitted that condos are a reason why he thinks clubs should close.

he said that there is a $30 million condo development that may not happen because they cant attract families into the area and that clubs' business models are interfering with the business models of others. And that it's not right.

Interesting....

Obvious guy says that maybe condos shouldnt be opening in an ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICT but obvious guy and common sense guy both seem to be missing in this city lately.

he's our high chancellor sutter.

good...let the market decide it.

leave clubs alone and let developers do what they want.

if they can't sell units in the area because of clubs, they'll stop trying to build them there!

The Star article I read said police figure it's gang related and were stunned at all the shell casings in the street, blown out windows, etc.

27 slugs have been recovered so far, and the Forensic Ident guys are sure to find more. There are at least 4 shooters, based on 4 seperate calibres found at the scene. One bullet was recovered at King Street. This is exactly how Jane Creba was killed.

When I was in the army, the number one rule of firing any weapon is to be aware of what's in the background. Just because you're shooting at a target 200m away, doesn't mean that's as far as the bullets go.

...hang 'em high.

I think it would be interesting to see how Toronto (specifically the entertainment district) compares to other metropolitan cities across the globe in regards to violent crimes.

lets focuss on getting all of these stupid wannabe gangsta ******s out of the province, ship them to the northpole....problem solved.

Wasn't outside of DNA exactly.. was on that little side street between adelaide and richmond that goes behind republik and circa.

and mutha fuck adam vaughn. he's a fucking worthless piece of shit that cares more about being on TV then actually doing something worth while for this city.

I feel pretty confortable in saying that there's probably less violent crime in Toronto that 99.99 percent of cities with a population over 2 million people.

So this explains my friend's MSN name: "DNA was awesome last night!"

Posted by Binder_Dundat on Oct-31-2007 01:26:

Yeah, Toronto is safe compared to other cities of its size.Thing is people love to bitch. Only problem is when innocent people die. wrt the district, what is the option? Shut it down and have clubs spread out instead of in one area?
Fine, then cops will bitch about having to go from different places in the city to deal with problems. People are gonna keep shooting each other!

Posted by MarkT on Oct-31-2007 03:40:

very few "innocent" people die, though...as the *vast* majority of violent crime involves parties who know each other. As long as that is the case, I never worry about my own safety in this city.

not to sound uncaring...but I do care *far* less when some thug losers fight or kill each other than when some passerby is inadvertently involved.

The real question is: who were the thugs affiliated with? Were they involved with the clubs in any way? Were they 'protecting' their business interests?

Someone probably stepped on his shoe, or something equally ridiculous.

So when Jane Creba gets shot in front of foot locker, the shooting happened at Yonge and Dundas.

When a shooting happens at Widmer and Adelaide the shooting happened outside DNA nightclub.

I see how the political and media spin works here.... .
