Unreleased Wavy Gravy remixes?

Habersham, Chris Micali, Blue Room Project... Any reason why they aren't released? And will they ever be?

There was originally a remix competition which resulted in floods and floods of remixes. They couldn't possibly all be released. As well as this, they changed the rules after the competition started to only accept entries from certain geographical regions - So a lot of people that had created a remix suddenly had no hope of even entering; hence a lot of unreleased remixes all over the place. Terry Bones was a victim of that rule change if I remember correctly.

Didn't need remixing anyway. Why try and improve perfection? It's just stupid.

I enjoyed the Terry Bones mix but I haven't heard any of the ones mentioned by Gauss but I would love to.

+1

still my favorite tune...

It surely got a million and one remixes of which many indeed got left out of the competition after the geographical restrictions, some of them sadly were by rather big name producers too.

Along with Terry Bones mix, Delikate Imposters and Burufunk mixes were also some of the mixes i remember enjoying alot at the time but original still is by far the best.

I agree, original is a masterpiece. Not to be touched, just like Xpander and Finished Symphony (off the top of my head).

Anyway, thanks for replies Mikey and Grim. Never heard of that remix competition before.

Victor Dinaire, since they're unreleased, maybe I can send them to you?

What exactly is the point of restricting remix entries geographically?

It would be a way to limit the massive amounts of entires they had to a reasonable number.

But an unreasonable way to get quality mixes

a remix i liked thoroughly that was by an amateur producer is "fracture's table scrap remix" or just "table scrap mix" or something like that.

I think everyone probably realized this in hindsight. Seemed like a good idea at the time; then the remixes came out.

The remix packs (released in .WAV files) are still floating around if you look hard enough. Magnetic North also had a remix pack (although there was no contest associated with that)

And yes, Wavy Gravy is a perfect track - beautiful melodies and rich sound. That's not to say other artists haven't done some great work with it. I think one of the most obscure remixes is from Voyager. Seems to have only been played once live at a Winter Music Conference.

Im still a fan of PvDs rework of it, but I know I'll get fierce abuse for admitting it.
