cubase users... audio problems
hello all... since moving from the wonderful little bubble that is reason into the pro world that is audio im realising its a whole new ball park.... having problems with audio... cubase sometimes does not see my soundcard, i got over this problem before by quiting and opening program again, and not really addressing problem but this time that is not working... i was hoping that someone could give me some info to what my problem could be....
i have looked in manual under audio but it just tells of all the things you can do to audio and not about audio connections... unless im not looking for the right section
any help would be amazing.... laters

Make sure that you have the latest drivers for your soundcard.
What type of sound card is it?

motu 828 mk2
checked out motu website.... but maybe i didnt dload teh right one...will check again...
Let me guess, you, like me, own a MOTU 828Mk2... and let me guess it's FIREWIRE.
And let me guess you're using Windows XP service pack 2.
And let me guess it's being retarded.
That's because Microsoft in it's infitinte wisdom fucked up Firewire drivers when they released service pack 2.
You'll need to find and download Service Pack 1 firewire drivers and manually update your firewire device in device manager.
It will make a world of difference. Trust mez.
Here is the link to my server with the firewire drivers:
http://archives.djfreaq.com/archives/1394_fix.zip
You know the drill.. Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers
Then right click update driver... then let me choose, and point it to the unzipped 1394_fix folder.
Try that. Restart. Hopefully your motu interface will be functioning a bit better.
