What is your favourite DJ booth in Toronto?

I'm sure for those of you that aren't dj's still have their favourites.

Take into consideration: location, setup, equipment.

Discuss.

Mine is The Gallery with CZ following a close 2nd. Footwork 3rd.

I would vote for The Docks mainroom as it has one of the best booth sounds and equipment organization around. Plenty of space to move around, great monitors, setup.

However I to find the location being so high to be not as good as say, the Gallery or others that are pit-deep with the crowd.

Things to consider as well, that equipment can always be swapped in the majority of these high level clubs, so that's not so much a factor. It's more dependent on the headliner.

mine is the gallery. i like how the booth is not elevated and you can just walk up to it and see the dj up close and in action
i LOVE to observe what is going on behind the decks

Koolhaus.

Remember the party with Dave Seaman, Junkie XL and Armin....years ago...I think it was the idream festival...

Best booths ever !!!That was such a great night.

I was thinking of having the voting based on how the booth is originally setup on a regular basis.

I didn't include KoolHaus because that is not really a DJ booth, but a stage that can be converted into an area that accommodates DJs. I made my booth list based on permanent fixtures to a room.

I remember that party very clearly. Have some great vids of armin and xl due to that setup.

ditto. i really like the intimate feel of the gallery and the dj booth especially. the drink and CZ are not too far behind. but the new dj booth in the guv main room comes dead last.

probably the Next Level.
wish they had windows behind the dj booth though (which i think they used to)

I voted for the new Guv main room just for the fact that its pretty original compared to the rest.

Nothing really stands out on the booths...so hydrolics for the win (if they're used properly)

Yeah, that booth is insane to play.... and I agree - when the windows were in there with that insane view of the waterfront/skyline nothing in the city beat it. Unfortunately, the fire at The Docks (now Sound Academy) blew out the glass behind it. I'm pretty sure they plan on putting it back for next summer.

I also think Mod Club should be worthy of mentioning, though it's more of a stage than a booth.

Though it's not around anymore, nothing came even close to the booth at Sonic.... I don't think you could ask for a better set up than that one.

I voted CZ....but Gallery is a close second.

+1 to this.

Sonic and Stereo (in that order) have two of the best looking booths I've ever seen.

You forgot to add other - specify.

I love the setup at Mod Club, and especially with lights, it looks amazing. All Djs look really hot up there, cause you also get to see them full hight instead of only the upper body

New Guv booth. Too bad the sound system doesn't do it any justice .

Footwork has the perfect booth....Mike D designed and built the whole thing. Everything is exactly where you want it to be, with plenty of space/lighting for record bags or CD binders, the gear is at a good height and the sound is nice.

Ah...wasn't that the first Decadence (2004)?

Deko-ze played Intergalactic in the KH early on, then Seaman played it, then Sander played it at Boa. Good freakin shit...

Im sure oliver played it that night too, making for about what, 4 times.

New guv booth would be great BUT those two speaker pillars from hell that force you either in front or behind - in front no tunes, behind "rammed" into an area in which you can hear.

If they could fix that it would be great.

Twilo in Miami was pretty sweet,(lawler 2007) it went the length of the club width wise, which meant even the people in the back got a great view and were pretty close to the action.

yea im pretty sure that was the first Decadence and i believe the beastie boys track ur thinkin bout is "fight for your right (to party)" but i forget the remix. Seaman and Junkie played it in the same night in the same room, lol. big track though.

as for DJ booth's im with skipper on Footwork. but my fav. will always be System Soundbar's booth. i always loved going behind the booth and watchin the dj go to work. and on the packed nights watching the crowd from back there was always fun.
