John 'OO' Fleming, Joy Kitikonti & DeepGroove@System - REVIEW?
okz .. wells i didn't really see a review thread anywhere .. so i figure i might as well make one up ..
kz, got there after midnite with Sylphin and Endlesswave and forgot to find out which list SOS2/Galvatron put us on.. so ended up payin $25 (it was worth it i guess)..
go in and the place seemed bangin already.. then John came on the decks threw some awesome stuff down.. but the memorable moment was when he dropped "Children".. ah pure classic .. :]
okz.. so we got into the VIP and catch a bit of Fuzion's set.. great stuff in the there, talk to a bunch of ppl and then move around a bit more.. then caught Joy's set .. great stuff as well ..
all in all the nite was a wonderful mix and blend of epic, progressive, hard trance, techno, acid techno??, and even some electro i believe heh .. but yea wow whatta great array of tunes..
ohz and the crowd was real nice too .. only saw maybe one meathead and old asian dude, but nothing too really complain about. ppl were nice and friendly..
shouts go out to blue_neon & friend, SOS2/Galvatron, slyphin, endlesswave, and of course Swamps.. any one else i miss real sorry but i won't forget next time..
also saw the dude in the gold jacket?? trancenerd??
wells had a great time and the music & crowd was awesome which is what it should be about right ..
anyways, i smell real bad, my feet have corns, and i'm dead tired.. so yea gonna shower off this ravy gravy and get some snooze..
keep it real
OMG
What a night, amazing.
I got there at 11:30, I had to pay 15 $ which is not too bad, thanks to Fuzion. The crowd was awesome and friendly ( alot of room to dance). Around 1 am went to vip room, saw your all TA, forgot most of your names.... sorry. Thanks for the sticker blue_neon. Then went back to the dance floor with blue_neon. And John just went on and on and on with amazing progressive and trance set (Robert Miles - children and three drives - sunset of Ibiza) two of my all time favourites. Party there till 5 am. It was an amazing night. John was much better then AVB @ the guvernment.
hi
Got there early just to beat the line-up walked around for a bit...met deepgroove [ nice guy ] and thanks to him for the reduced list. All in all I didnt enjoy the night cause I dont like the style of trance John 00 played. stayed till 4am then took off...
When he played Children I almost fell on my ass......of all the classics he plays that one? oh well the crowd seemed to enjoy it..
Again a dissapointing night for me as I had little to no fun...proves my point again that Toronto sucks and I need to make it over to Europe sooner or later. Them some e head pissed me off cause he introduced himself to myself and my girlfriend and as we were leaving he kissed her on the lips....I didnt see it but she told me and I was gonna confront him but she stopped me right after she went to the washroom to wash her whole face from the fucking dirt bag...
If I saw him again I would snap....stupid fuck!!
If any of you saw him he was the older dude with shades and a leather coat who thought he knew how to dance and was hangin out a lot in the VIP room. short with dark short hair....Im sure he talked to many of you about his NEW E'sss the blue dove which have been around for years......still pissed about the whole thing but I guess it was better not to create a scene.....
woooohooooo
wat a night!
John 00 just tore the roof of system last night
at the beginning of his set, i didn't know if it was him, but then i realized it was, and he was spinning some banging progressive, but it was too low the volume at times...around 3am the club started moving literally...john spun massive back to back tech-trance and goa tracks
the last 1 and a half of his set was just unbelievable..i can't ID any of those songs, but its oki, ill buy the euphoria cd
some of the progressive tracks he played was Dave Swayze - Yasmines Garden (thnx to mecha who recognized it
), Jimmy Van M - Love Like Sleep (remix
, sasha's maybe?)...
when Joy Kitkonti came on, omfg, his set - pure madness
that was some nasty electric spicy tek-house
it got me grooving some bad
song after song, beat after beat
i cudn't recognize any of the tek-house songs, but he certainly kind of reminds me tom stephan
if system brinds tek-house dj's in like that, im gonna start going to system religiously
its funny how Joy was mixing this 1 song, i forget the name of it, but judge jules used to spin it, its like tech-trance, but anyways, as soon on he came on, he was scratching for good 3 mins
just fookin brilliant sets the whole night
crowd was certainly very friendly and good...people dancing, and so much space to dance, so that made my night amazing
i went to the VIP room, meet Jazz, Arcticboy, tatgirl, the chinese dude (you know who you are
), meet Swamps early in the night at the central bar hehe, Endlesswave, dEsidel...ah can't remember but i think i got everyone
i wasn't on the list at all, either the stupid bitch who didn't know how to check her list or i wasn't really on there
no worry, i always come prepared..anyways im all tired now, and i gotta work soon
What can I say ... I'm so hung over and it's not even funny
My head is spinning so fast I can barely type at this moment. I was so DRUNK lastnight and at times I couldn't even walk properly.
*John 'OO' Fleming* 10/10

( I can't believe he was standing right in front of me in the VIP room and I didn't notice him)
The agent under fire ... wait a sec, let me correct myself here ... "THE AGENT ON FIRE" was seriously kicking ass last night !!! I have never seen anyone spin so SMOOOOOOOTH before. John's psychology was so fuckin' amazing !!! His track selection was perfect !!!
*Joy Kitikonti* 9/10

(Special thanks goes to Tatgirl for introducing me and my friends to him. Joy is so funny and cool !!!)
My ears are ringin' still, Joy spun a really HARD set and I would have to say simply ... BAD ASS !!! * After meeting Joy, I told him to go all out and don't hold yourself back ... worse come to worse ... blow the sound system dude !!! *
*DeepGroove* 8/10
( Too bad we didn't get hear the old skool trance, but it's understandable you guy had to switch it up lastnight. It would of been retarded to have trance in every room) That was some HARD techno, house and progressive beats you guys laid down !!! The wicked mixing and track selection kept the back room jumpin' all night long !!!
*DJ Fuzion* 7/10
(Since DeepGroove was moved to the back room lastnight, Fuzion took over the VIP room) I'm sorry that the sound system kept cutting off on you but, it's not your fault
) I heard some wicked nu & old skool tracks that made me smile and the mixing was tight.

Lastnight was simply the best night at System EVER !!! (Even better then MP event) The DJs were fuckin' amazing, the crowd was very happy & friendly and clubb was pretty pack !!! *Thank GOD for the renovation* For once, my problems in life left me and I was able to enjoy myself and not think about it. had such a great time with girl and all my friends !!! I haven't been that happy for a LOOOOOOONG time. NUFF respects goes to all the TA headz that showed up lastnight and a thanks for all the support !!! A very special thanks goes to DeepGroove and Tal lastnight ... damn you guys are funny. *BTW how did you guys get the wax off?*

Sorry I coudn't make it to the meeting lastnight ... I was tooo drunk !!!
New Ranking for my Fav DJs... as of lastnight !!!
1. DJ Tiesto
2. Paul van Dyk
3. John'OO' Fleming
now THAT is how you do trance... without a doubt one of my top nights ever at system... from start to finish, this party absolutely rocked... Scaife opened up with a nice hard, up beat set - excellent job of setting the mood for 00 fleming...
fleming wasted no time, as soon as he hit the decks he started laying down one wikked track after the next... for 3 hours straight he didn't let up, kept the energy level through the roof... the fact that he managed to drop Children without it being the least bit cheesy just about sums it up... trance done right...
by the time kitokonti was up I was totally beat, but he still managed to keep me moving... one word to describe this guy, relentless... dropping trax from all ends of the electronica spectrum was a nice change up after hearing 3 hours of prog trance, and the crowd was totally into it... kitokonti had a huge task stepping up after the amazing set fleming threw down, but he didn't miss a step... first time seeing this guy, hopefully it won't be the last...
shouts to all the TA's that made it out last night... and to the eLiTe pir8 swamp thing, got any wArEz?
what the motherfuck..... i thought it was tonight....

My review, same one as posted on the tribe board.
Last night when I walked in to System I was greeted with a feeling that reminded me of when I started going to Breathe when it first began. It was a feeling of not really totally knowing what to expect and of knowing it was going to be a great night.
Now don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore my prog but it was a nice change to hear a different style of music in the club (note that I wasn't able to make it when the Dukes spun). And it was a fantastic night of music, when I arrived Mark Scaife (so adaptable to whatever style be it opening or headlining) was doing a terrific job of setting the tone for the night, droping track after track of rocking bass lines.
When Fleming stepped up he didn't hesitate to continue in the direction that Mark had been taking everyone, instead of the start from scratch and build it up "prog way" he immediatly lashed out at everyone with thounderous tunes that didn't give anyone a moment to rest. I thouroughly enjoyed his set completely for the entire night and was so thankful when he dropped "Area - Definition of Tekto (Silvio Ecomo Mix)" as its such a favorite of mine. So now I'm still waiting to hear a set by the man that disapoints me, luckily I don't think that will ever happen. When talking to some people about his set, everyone was in agreeance that he is always able to create pounding uplifting sets without being cheesy, a problem encountered by quite a few trance djs.
As for Joy Kitikonti, being a labelmate of BXR boss Mauro Picotto, I was expecting to hear plenty of hard italian techno and that I did. While I only heard the 1st hour of his set before I left I was quite impressed with what he was dropping, lots of tweaking and some scratching nicely rounded out the sound I heard.
And of course aside from the music what else to make the night better than the scores of fantastic people who came out, so great to see everyone and meet some new faces as well! Special thanks to Josh for giving me a ride home when the friends I came with decided to go home earlier in the night.
So all together it was a fouking phenominal night of music and friends with a vibe that astonished me. And from the things I've heard it looks like it shall be a memorable summer indeed.

What can i say? I guess pepi9317 summed it up pretty well on how dull this event turned out. First, $20 or $25 cover charge was kind of stiff. Didn't enjoy 00'set at all. It was the total opposite from what i've heard him spin at last years wemf. I've come to the conclusion that UK trance dj's are boooooooring. I really enjoyed Fuzion's set, love his style. Overall, in my opinion this party deserves a 5.75/10. That is all for now.
peace,
Dave
alright, I know everyone is entitled to their own opinions... and in my opinion it seems like you guys wouldn't know good music if it crapped on your face... there is life outside of euro-style trance, maybe you should open your minds a bit...
just caught on the songs from Flemings set
1 of them was Ecano - Run (Z2 Mix)
Spacepunks - Another Space (Pussy 2000 Mix)

your quite actually wrong man, joy spun far beyond techno...it was pure tek-house, nowhere near techno
he did drop some techno tracks, certainly sounded like acid-techno or something, but mainly the songs were tek-house
AWESOME!! What a night! Flemming is just amazing! Definetely on the top of my list for DJ's.
Fuzion you did great! Too bad the sound cut out so much! ARG!
Anyways, awesome night. I think about Tiesto @ KoolHaus, Armin @ State, and now Flemming @ System. Its just too much! =] Shit. You just cant beat parties like these.

) but electronic music is something that I have been completely ingrossed in for quite a long time, so I feel as though I have a farily competent handle on it.
And don't forget: futura legend - restless nature

what??
i really don't think it's worth debatting over music styles..
if you enjoyed a party it shouldn't really matter what DJ plays what kind of music.. i mean the DJ might play the kinda music you like, but if the party sucked, then what's the difference?
electronic music has so many genres and subgenres it's impossible that everyone would agree on who plays what because there are so many grey areas.
personally i think something like this just leads to an endless debate and flame war. let's not think too much about it and just try to enjoy the music..
wow...what a night!!!
I wasn't sure what to expect because I had never been to System or seen any of the djs that were spinning. I had such a good time, what a party! I loved John OO Fleming's set, he played a few of my favorite tracks that I just did not expect to hear...i died! Joy Kitikonti followed it up with a really banging set! Overall, a great night, with wonderful friends, and great music! Can't ask for too much more than that!
I also want to comment on the scence in Toronto: absolutely love it!! My best nights have been spent in Toronto! I've been to many other cities on the east coast: NYC, Boston, Miami, DC...but Toronto is my favorite! Really nice people, great clubs, great djs. Looking forward to my next trip north, and hopefully get to meet some of you!

Hey all...
I had a great time last night.. I met more TA's than I ever expected I could.. At least 15-20 TA's last night...
I wanted to take pictures of all the TA's there, but for some reason I didn't get started on this till like after 2AM or something.. So I have pictures of all the ones I could find, and they're online here .
I also took some random club shots... During Joy's set, I went and asked the girl doing the lighting (who was DAMN HOT by the way) to put the laser on for me, so I could take some pics (as the lasers seemed to go off around 3 or so, and never came back on.) She turned them on for me, but just left em pointing straight... So I don't have any good laser shots from the latter part of the evening... Anyway, all those shots are available here .
As to what I thought of the night: I thought it was great... John '00 Flemming's set was superb.. He spun a nice variety, and changed it up enough that it never got dull... I believe the version of Childern he played was the 2k2 remake but I'm not 100% sure... I didn't really like Joy's set, but that's simply not my kind of music, so that doesn't mean much...
I thought the crowd was ok, a little crazy close to the DJ booth (people jumping around like apes and knocking people over...)
With regards to that guy who kissed someones girlfriend, I saw that clown.. He was there 2 weeks ago, and asked my sister if she wanted some E, and while doing so stroked her hand (while not as bas as a kiss, it's still rather creepy.)
Fuzion played a great set... The skipping really sucks in that room....
That's about it... Enjoy the pics... (Oh, and theres one TA's name I couldn't remember, so if someone knows his name, let me know, and I'll update the pics.)
FuZioN's view
Hey hey,
First of all I wanna thank everyone for coming out and especially those who made it on my guest list. I met a lot of you last night and had a great time. Thanks for the deep groove guys for hooking up the trance night in the VIP. I hope we'll be able to have many more.
I apologize for anyone in the VIP about the sound, man the setup was ghetto, the sound kept cutting out, the needles kept skipping, the CD decks kept shutting off. I mean it was like a mobile gig from hell, but in any case the majority of the night was fun. The sound cutting problem will hopefully be fixed for next week.
I took a break around three to go out to the main room and party it up and went I walked in there and heard John drop Mark Norman Overkill, I lost it. It was SOOOOOOO good to hear great banging trance at System rather then the same repetitive, boring, progressive beats for eight hours. It was a great mix.
oh... and while I was playing the VIP, MY GOOD FRIEND CAROLINE brought over John 00 and came up to me while I was mixing and started pointing at my shirt. So you know you just kinda casually give them the "1 minute" finger.... haha - then she's like Cinar this is John..... I think I apologized for fifteen minutes - lol - but man was he ever a great guy - totally cool and really laid back! I thanked him after for finally injecting some energy into the club by bringing in trance. It was great! An awesome night all around.
Well thats it I think - One last thing - Ill be with deep groove in the VIP every friday. We're gonna try out trance nights in there with a sweet mix of banging trance and progressive. I have a free guestlist so if anyone wants to hit system on a regular night with their friends for free courtesy of moi and deep groove then you can email me at [email protected]
PEACE
Was geeeeeeewwwd!
