brooklyn assistance please
so i think i am going to move to nyc after i graduate temple in december. since my major is communications, i obviously will not be able to afford to live in manhattan. so i think tomorrow i want to go to brooklyn and scope out different parts of where id wanna live. i've looked on craigs list at places, and it doesn't seem like id pay that much more to live there than i do here, so i'm not too concerned about that. i guess i mostly just wanna get a feel for like williamsburg and prospect park and such? i think i am going to take the train in, so i just don't know what subway stops to be looking for. also, there is like a one day mta pass i could buy at any subway station right? any other suggestions relating to this situation would be lovely. thank u thank u
also, is anyone planning on going to dave seaman???? i really would prob love to... is the club hes at descent?

the three main stops to check around would be
Broadway off the N/W trains
Ditmars off the N/w trains
Steinway off the R Train

for williamsburg get off at bedford avenue on L train (first stop in bk) but its not cheap
there is a $7 one day pass; more info here http://www.mta.nyc.ny.us/metrocard/mcgtreng.htm
Brooklyn rules and I miss it badly..It's easily the cleanest borough in NYC and the people are probably amongst the friendliest..The reason why you'll get little response on here is because very few people venture out there..There is far more to BK than Park Slope and Williamsburg..Kensington,,Cobble Hill,,Brooklyn Heights,,Ditmus Park West,,East Flatbush,,Fort Hamilton and Bay Ridge are also worth considering...Don't let the word Flatbush put you off,,unless you consider million dollar houses a no no...
Brooklyn is a real place with real people..There's a real honest buzz about the place 'cos of the pride of the people that live there more so than in any other Borough..
BROOKLYN RULES OK.....

Yes, you can buy a one day pass at the subway vending machines. i think it's 7 dollars.
As for brooklyn, look further than williamsburg and prospect park. My favorite neighborhood is bay ridge, it has a great neighborhood feel, it's very safe, and it's an easy ride to downtown on the R (granted, a bunch of stops though), or you can transfer to the D for express service to midtown. It's a great neighborhood.
Although, i would suggest you consider where you are going to work when picking a neighborhood. If you are working in midtown, you probably want to live somewhere in queens, or in a BK neighborhood with an express train that runs through the neighborhood. For instance, sheepshead bay, midwood, and flatbush have the B train which runs express into midtown. If you are going to work downtown, BK is a pretty good bet.
Good luck.
