Autumn Road Trip Pics: Got High in Korea + ThrillSeekers &ATB

1. Getting High on Halloween in Mtn Seoraksan Korea

Halloween in South Korea and we decided to get High.... 5,700 feet high The site was Seoraksan National Park located North East of South Korea about an hour away from the Border with North Korea. It took us about 3 hours to drive from Seoul but it seems faster because of the breath taking views. Korea's Highways are great. They were built well despite the difficult terrain they were built on. I probably drove pass atleast 10 tunnels some as long as half a mile. With the mountainous terrain here, they just bore into the hills to make way for a highway. Pretty impressive.

Got to Sokcho beach around lunch time just in time for some fresh sushi. It couldn't be fresher there because you pick your fish live from the tank and they prepare it for you. I loaded up on some good Korean rice for the hike. I remember looking up the summit from our hotel when we woke up and it looked very intimidating. It just seems unreachable by foot.

After lunch we drove to the Park to start our climb. Not wearing the proper kicks, I knew I was gonna struggle. I only had my regular club shoes, my Puma Swinger on , The first 2 hours of the hike was moderately easy. The breath taking views made it almost majical. We took a 15 minute break before tackling the hardest part of the hike, an hour of vertical hike. Man, 15 minutes into the climb I was hurting. My heartbeat was so intense that we had to stop for a breather every 10 mintues. At one point we thought about quitting but we ran into this old guys who was coming down from the summit and told us "It's beautiful up there. I'm 60 y.o. now and I'll be back when I'm 70!" After hearing that .... we have to give it a go. So Jinny and I resumed our adventure. After about an hour, we finally reached the summit and it was well worth it. The view was just amazing. For Jinny it was her first climb because she's afraid of heights. She overcame her fear with our climb. By the time we reached the summit she could even look down the valley without the fear of passing out. To our surprise, there was a guy selling stuff up there. It cost us $3 for a small cup of coffee. Talk about a guy who's well taking advantage of the Supply and Demand Theory

The hike back was obviously much easier and faster. It only took us 2 hours going back and I was ready for a buffet dinner

2. October 26 - ATB @ Club Spot Seoul, Korea

Got to the club a bit pass midnite and it was fairly packed. I then realized that it was also a booking club. Booking Club is something uniquely Korean. It a club where there's private VIP rooms kinda like Table Service in America but most of the people that rent them are guys. Each room has an assigned waiter who works hard to get the guys a date for the evening. The waiter grabs as many girls he can and bring them over to the room one by one or group of girls (friends) to introduce them to the male guest. The girl then decides if she wants to stay or go. It's also like speed dating. In Korea it's not common to just strike a conversation with a stranger. So going to a regular bar to try to meet someone is not a common practice. The Booking Club is a place to go if you want to meet new people. I know, it's strange

Anyway back to ATB, we had to endure listening to the opener who was playing 3-5 y.o. epic trance. Good thang was after 30 mins ATB was up. By this time the club was pretty pack. I guess most of the guys in the VIP suites came out to see the headliner ATB played decent but not great. Atleast he was able to keep the energy up on the dance floor. It was a short 2 hour set and he was out of there. The closer played some funky house tunes that kept us going for another hour. We then continued partying at a friends house.

3. October 20 ThrillSeekers @ Blue Sprit Seoul, Korea



What a great party! Walked in the Venue and Steve just got started with his set and he was already banging it. The place was small and intimate. As I expected the crowd was young but a bit reserve so Jinny, myself and Jennifer (friend) stirred up a PARTY!!! I walked up to Steve to say hi to him and let him know that he was rockin it.

Steve was animated as usual, interacting with the crowd as he was playing. He played hard all night long only giving us a few breakdowns to take a break. I don't recall sitting down myself as I only took bathroom breaks and Bar runs. Jinny and I were dancing and jumping through his rocking set. He played 30 mins pass his scheduled 2 hour set which the crowd appreciated. Right after his set he waved me over to have a shot with him which turn into him pouring vodka in my mouth.

A minute later one of the promoter showed up with an ice cream cake that later was used for a mini food fight. I don't think the locals expected something crazy like that from their guest DJ but they loved his down to earth persona. Steve even joined us on the dance floor as the closing DJ played. He stuck around for another hour just sharing drinks with us. Super Cool dood

He said to let everyone know that he is looking forward to his return at Ten15 on Dec. 8.

I have DJed in quite a few countries in Asia. I really really want to go to SK & play! & of course pick up some masks!!!

They will love you here. Everyone here loves hard driving trance. And oh, I something for your mask collection.
