Danny Howells Appreciation Thread

I've been listening to his Nocturnal Frequencies, Vol. 3 mixed compilation and his July '02 Essential Mix this morning, and it's striking to me how many styles Danny Howells has adopted over the years and how brilliant he is with each. Whether it's a liveset or a cd, he's never disappointed. It would be very tough to try and rank my favorite sounds from him since he has spun everything from downtempo to tribal to funk to progressive house/trance to deepsexyfuturistictechhousefunk over the years. I'm curious what sound he's been playing lately, as I haven't heard anything from him since last Spring.

So yeah, appreciate.

Right now he's playing what he's always played - own you in the fucking face music.

The only DJ I've seen who has never once disappointed me is Danny Howells. The man is the definition of the word "genius" when used in reference to DJ's.

That's about the best way of putting it that I can think of. I really need to see the man live. Do you have a favorite set of his? I'd be hard-pressed to pick one.

*Appreciates*

In case noone has noticed, that guy in my avatar is the "Danny Howells Action Figure" (Decks sold separately)

Here's a recent set for you to enjoy

Danny Howells - 2007-05-25 - Live at Plaza de Toros Reynosa, Mexico - Part 1
Danny Howells - 2007-05-25 - Live at Plaza de Toros Reynosa, Mexico - Part 2

Edit:

Danny Howells Action Figure

Well beyond all of his EM's, my all time favorite is something you've already listened to: Nocturnal Frequencies 3.

One of my all time favorite mix compilations, and probably my favorite official "release" set of Howells'.

I knew there was a reason I respect your taste in music.

NF3 was actually my first EDM cd - I heard a friend listening to Creamer & K - I Wish and was like "wow what is that?" so he burned me a copy.

loooool @ avatar!

And ok, I was dancing within the first 3 seconds on part 1, so this is definitely a download! Thanks Woscar

Also, Danny is by far the DJ that I most respect. He seems to work so hard at it, and is always having a good time. I'll never forget seeing him at Global Gathering 2007, though I wish it was for longer. Next time he comes to the US, someone PLEASE let me know

He's the fucking best.

It's almost as if he was born to do it...

my number two fave!

Always will remember his residency at Arc. Some of the best sets of music I have ever heard in my life.

Posted by Alex on Nov-02-2007 19:16:

He's amazing.

But I didn't always think so, a few years ago I could never figure out why people loved him so much, but I have acquired a taste for his muzak, and the taste is gooooooood.

i'm almost afraid to admit this, but i think Howells replaced Luke Fair as my #1 after i saw him again in September.

i mean, maybe i just need to see Luke again. i'm not sure. what can i do!

also, Danny Howells - Continental Airlines Mix is one of my all-time favorites. it was hosted on his site years ago and i don't know if it's still out there anywhere, but i'll upload it for you later if i remember.

There's no shame - they're both in my top 3 as well.

Danny Howells is a crappy dj because he doesn't produce enough. Everyone knows that.

All I needed was Bent - Waiting For You (Danny Howells Remix) and I'm set for the next year.

Similarly, I think it was one of the first EDM DJ compliations I ever purchased. Diabla (Heavenly Mix) still gives me goosebumps, at the end of the first CD.

I have that set in my computer...if anyone wants it, I can upload it too

This was actually the first Danny Howells set I ever heard...it was this set that made give my first step towards switching to House music

I can't remember the name now, but there's this wicked Disco track in that set...I FUCKING LOVE IT!!!
