[Review] Jason Jollins @ Pacha

Jason was already on when I got there at about 1:45. Started off with some progressive from his repertoire --- warm response from the crowd; a few Argentina jerseys can be seen. Though some of you know that I'm not that in to progressive, I was really enjoying the tracks Jason was laying down. It can best be described as having a slight hint of trance over the proggier stuff, which is certainly something I've noticed from a couple of Jason's Argentina sets. And so the set kept the crowd moving while still managing to deliver that emotional updraft that's so characteristic of trance.

Partway into the set the trance starts taking over, and a lineup of really nice tracks drops (I had a hard time IDing b/c I've been hibernating for so long). After the trance, it's getting early and Jason's breaking out the darker sounds. He goes back to progressive but with a considerably darker tone.

Overall, the mixing was great and the track selection was good, meaning that the music requirement is satisfied. So despite anything lame, like the hip hop party upstairs through which one had to walk to smoke a cigarette outside, the party was a blast. Lots of fun people in the crowd; lots of good dancers. I didn't see any fights, and K'd out dudes don't bother me --- I liked the crowd and was disappointed that the show ended when it did. Anyway, Jason is showing himself to be a presence with a solo gig at a club like Pacha NYC. Keep up the good work, and thanks for the awesome set.

Jason threw down fucking proper last night. Progressed through all different styles, it was fucking sweet. Around 3:00 or so he really started killin it. Mixing was fucking fantastic. I had an absolute blast, club wasn't too crowded so there was nice room to dance too. He dropped some vocal track around 3:45 that was so sweet, Jason or anyone else remember what that was?

Great times!

jason rocked the house as usual, you can never expect anything less than a great prog house set from the man. always good to see him headlining as well. I went to see quivver as well so I missed the 1st half hour of jason but he was killing it when I got in and pepped me up.
cheers bro, and keep up the good work!

Hey guys!!

Thanks so much for all of the great comments regarding the night and regarding my set!

I had a lot of fun and it was great hanging with so many of you.

Sleepy & Boo did a great job opening up and while I missed the locals in the basement, I heard that they did a great job as well.

The night in July had more people but according to Pacha we hit 1300 people last Friday which is still a great turnout.

So thanks so much to all who came out and made this such a great night, I truly appreciate the support!

I'm on tour now for a month (San Diego, Australia, Argentina) and I'll be home sometime in December. Looking forward to seeing you all then.
