Hasn't most of Lange's music been vocal based? Follow Me? I Believe? Sincere For You? Drifting Away? Don't Think It Feel It? Lange has his fair share of vocal tracks. I'm glad he didn't include all of those..they have been played to death and are much cheesier than what is on this album.

Songless is killing my ears, but so far I'm enjoying the rest

I normally don't listen to Lange, but I'm going to a party where he is one of the headliners in a few weeks, so I listened to the samples an I'm actually pretty impressed! The songs on this album are way better than "Drifting Away."

Vocals in themselves has nothing to do with making anything cheesy, it's how they are DONE, and in this case I'd have to agree with you. I'm just not a big fan of this album.

On a slightly different note, many of Lange's oldschool vocal productions and remixes (except for "drifting away" and "don't think it feel it") were quality.

yeah I agree. Drifting Away is pretty nice. especially with the nice flow of the entire tune. And they fit pretty well inside the tune.
The new vocal tunes however sounds really blurry and plain boring.

Yes symmetry c!!!Amazing tune, it brought memories flooding back...and intercity and reflections...amazing trance tunes. Too bad that we don't get such good melodic dance music these days (nostalgia lol!).

Actually, I found "Drifting Away" quite "cheesy" according to my standards -- keeping in mind that everyone is different (hence my "except for" injunction). Why? I guess I felt it was sung way too "poppishly" in addition to awfully tacky lyrics (almost like it was created specifically for commercial gain, which it managed to pull off).

On the other hand, I felt that "Follow Me" exemplified a majestic oldschool vocal sound that really struck me emotionally,...even managing to weave its way into becoming virtually my premier alltime vocal trance track, if that's possible. I found the inherent replay value surprisingly resilient; something I don't often experience with songs that carry more "accessible" characteristics (like many of Lange's quality productions).

Maybe it's just me, but it seems that all of the melodic olschool tracks are pretty "underground" in this day and age. So many newcomers who have no understanding of a magnificent past.

whilst i agree 100% with don't think it feel it, i thought drifting away was nice. yes the lyrics are painfully cliched and poppy when you actually listen to them, but they were nicely sung and integrated well with the tune; they sound like they belong there, in short. in contrast i despise 'follow me', although it could be dubbed and i'd still feel the same about it

happiness happening was always my fav.. closely followed by agenda - heaven. both have a really ethereal atmospheric feel you just don't get in modern vocal trance.. same goes for old space brothers stuff

Cecily's "eargasmic" vocals better not be the reason why you "despise" it!

It blows "Drifting Away" away! (Isn't even on the same echelon IMO) :

Happiness Happening was indeed gorgeous (it's in my top 10 vocal trance list), and I agree with the rest of what you said.

Yes, I can see people being turned off from "Drifting Away" because of the vocals; they miss out on the finer points of the tune. Personally, once I fell in love with the bassline, the percussive timbres/synths, the vocals provided a good melodic timbre. I view the vocals more like a lead than something of lyrical-transcendent-punch and just thump away to the vibe.

haha, well i've always found the tune so cringeworthily bad that i've never really paid much attention to the singing on it

i'm assuming it was the same singer from 'remember'? i liked that

Well,...maybe you've just never heard it really loud in a club? I'd have to say, the track has a euphoric feeling I've never quite experienced before, ever. But to each their own, right?

Yes, Cecily Fay is the same vocalist on "Remember", and I guess I could almost safely say she has the best voice I've ever heard.

If you need to listen to her vocals on "follow me" again, I'm sure I could arrange that. Maybe you never heard the Club Mix or something, hence your opinion?
