Trance at Zone / Hours of Operation

I was at Zone yesterday dancin' it up and Greg Gow dropped the SVD remix of King of my Castle.. I almost died.

I was sitting in the VIP area when I heard the distorted vocal at the start and just grabbed my friend and headed straight for the dancefloor.

I couldn't believe my ears.. I thought they NEVER played trance there.. and that remix of all tracks. I'm so happy now because SVD didn't even play it when he was at LOL and I finally got to hear it at a club.

Also.. has anyone heard anything of CZ doing 24 hours (6AM-6AM) on Sundays? There is a sign right on the door that I've never seen before that said they are starting a 24 hour party with those times but the set times for that sunday were only till 4am and I asked one of the doorman and she said they don't do that at all and they close at 4??

I know exactly what track u r talking about.
He gave me his latest set and that's the second last track on it.
I will say this track is amazing!!!! I love it so so much. I have heard it at zone before and it works. I didn't really think of it as trance tho??

I love Greg!

You wouldn't by any chance have that set as an mp3 would ya?

and maybe you don't think of it as trance because you actually like it

even though the track is made by a trance dj/producer, i find it quite housey. manzone&strong have been playing this track since the spring if i remember correctly.

The Zone has a VIP area? How does one get the pleasure of being a Zone VIP?

usually know the dj that is playing. if you wander up there and the djs friends dont know you then you will get weird looks.

You are correct and it's not trance....It is more housey!

LOL @ VIP...

By VIP area.. I mean the area opposite chinatown/to the right of the dj booth (when facing the booth). It's labelled VIP area on the zone map that Ni-CD made awhile back because apparently sometimes it's roped off and only accessible for VIPs.

As for the area behind the booth, I was up there 2-3 times yesterday and didn't know anyone and didn't receive any dirty looks. Maybe I got lucky.

trance has been sounding more housey for years... (well, some producers)

so you get... trouse? (calling Endgame...)

surprised no one said this tune is so durrrrty yet

Hm...you just answered my VIP questions...nm

SVD is not housey! as i watched him being interviewed on bpm tv, he describes his sound as a blending mix of trance, house and tribal. Then again i've heard more people say sander's music is hard trance because of the massive amount of bass he uses.

oh and btw,, has anyone noticed bpm tv being taken off cable/satelite,, i used to have it and loved watching it everyday!

chinamon already replied to this.

Just because a DJ/Producer is a Trance DJ, doesn't mean they only spin/produce Trance tracks...

You even said in your post

How can you say that SvD is not Housey when you even have him saying that he has house elements in his sound??

lol. comes in handy.

Posted by PurpleHaze on Nov-05-2007 18:23:

its called tech-trance lol

Posted by jon jon on Nov-05-2007 18:29:

the subject "trance at zone" is totally misleading. (though I'm sure its what is keeping this thread alive, lol)

So he played 1 tune that is borderline trance. That isn't THAT uncommon at zona. I could argue that Dekoze playing Faxing Berlin on Sunday (not that I was there or anything, la la la) is more trance than anything else. I've also heard Dekoze play full on disco in his arsenal.

The genre snobs continue to recruit heh

This song, like the last year or so of SVD's productions, is not even anywhere near Trance. If you think it is, well, fuck.

naw its trance, but its not ur stereotypical fluff trance u might hear from others, thats what sets sander apart from others. his sound is a mix between tech house and trance so his mixes have that spin off to it.

rumour has it, it was the first time he played it at a club
that was a great party...

Posted by samhouse on Nov-05-2007 20:03:

the less people start to label "genres" as specifically one type of music...the less this confusion will occur.

SVD made a name for himself with harder "trancier" sets however alot of his productions are similar to King of my castle. By Any Demand is another example...sick tune.

That's a stupid rumour, he had been hammering it out for well over a month.

He played it nearly every show in WMC
