Have you ever had an uncontrollable mishap while performing live?
I was spinning live @ a sports bar here in miami beach and there were two technological issues that were definatley not to my favor. My two mishaps in the evening were out of my control, yet pissed me off like theres no tomorrow. Some idiot stepped on the power cable going from the CDJ to the power, and it TURNED OFF MY CDJ WHILE I WAS MIXING!!!!!!!!! Wow that sucked so much, I just had to turn it back on and beat match the song in a matter of 20 seconds, otherwise it would of been horrific! Then later on, out of NOWHERE the gain on one of the channels just shot through the roof!!! It got sooo loud so abruptly it scared the crap out of everyone lol, so I had to adjust accordingly. If any one has experienced any uncontrollable mishaps REPOST!
Gaffers tape + velcro straps = no loose cables.
Quality mixer = no gain bursts.
I don't call these mishappenings, I call that setting equipment up in a non-professional way.
[/thread]
I understand...however Its kind of difficult when you get there with all your gear and you have to remove the current dj equipment thats there and set up your own within a matter of 15 minutes...cut me some slack

well i've had the cops show up countless times
drinks spilled on my equipment
overheated amps
people stepping on my powercord
cds with scratches i miss
partner freaking out and leaving me with only 4 records
a) pigs. pigs again. more pigs.
b) tripped circuit breakers.
c) drunktards causing various troubles.
d) house flooded. oh that was a good time.
e) lost an amp. luckily i had a backup
Playing at a Halloween party, over 300 people in an empty house, the hold power of the house shut down then finally fixed and when turning my computer on the external driver did not work, that night i was using SSL so one of my friends went to my house and got me backup driver, while I play with some cds i what on my car.
Also later that night a girl spill I drink a cdj 1000 so I had to finished play with 1 cdj and itunes, crazyy night. But it was worth, every one dancin and having a good time.
1. I had someone's entire house black out on me during a party
2. people stepping on power cords
3. right side of my dual cd player stopped accepting cd's, so i had to use vinyl the rest of the night
4. volume meters stopped working on my DXM09 but I had a CM200 as a backup
5. let my friend use my speakers for a gig, and he ended up damaging the inputs, and blowing one
6. people doing the party boy move on my DJ booth, making the needles skip
7. someone tried to grab my headphones in the rush to get out of the house because the police came, but the police took him out, that was really cool
8. i got really drunk one time and didnt know how to DJ for a good 30 mins, I couldnt figure out why the music wasnt playing lol

I get uncontrollable boners
No kidding, someone spilling a drink on ya CDJ1000. I have gatherings at mine all the time with about 10 - 15 friends and I tell them all time and time again not to put their drinks anywhere near the DJ equipment. I remember once one of my mates put his beer next to my CDJ 800 and im like oi move it and he goes "it's me mate, you know I won't spill it" and I said "doesn't matter who it is, if you broke it you wouldn't be able to pay to fix it". That's the only thing I'm very careful of, a lot of people under-estimate how expensive some DJ gear is and because it isn't theirs they don't really care.
Needle went bad on one of my tables. Thats about it, didn't ruin anything just made me very upset considering I had no spare needles on hand.
This is why I always have a mic hooked up to the mixer so I can start beatboxing till the crew fix the problem.
nothing sucks more when something goes wrong during your set that you cant control.this happened too me last weekend, power went out, sound and lighting went right out with it right just when i was getting to make the next track hit. as everone yealed ohhhhh i yealed out
"who's touching my ass" and got a laugh and the luckly the power was turned back on like 30 seconds later.
may be not that long but still what a buzz KILL!!
I shat my pants.
Was wearing white chinos and white jocks.

Playing at a house party using my own speaker setup, half way thru my set my subwoofer blew. I was forced to play with no sub for the rest of the set...that sucked.
At a club with dodgey setup
only 1 headphone speaker worked (mixer stuffed)
stage unstable so the stylus skipped when you moved near the table and when some light-tech-guy came running up and down fixing the fog machine and lights.
It was werid I could not beatmatch just wonderin what was goin on id get it in then it would go to a trainwreak while cue-in a track up till i noticed the whole table rocked when you moved around on the stage and the stylus kepted skipping.
You dont expect everything to be perfect with the setup its expected that faders are stuck on with blue-tack and only one heaphone speaker works but at least the thing your standing on could be stable, so you can get into the music with the stylus skipping. (now investing in cds)
there was a sweet sixteen gig once at the top floor of a banquet hall and as the bday girl later found out, there were these haters whom the girl had not invited, so out of envy, they came from outside and threw up towards the glass window a shaken-up can of coke which broke the glass and everyone yelled and there i was right in front of the window with my brand new dj setup (lucky for me the can missed my head by a few inches and hit somebody else--which still sucks for them) and the worst part of all, my equipment had tiny shattered pieces of glass all over it! (not to mention the sticky coke syrup all over everything...until this day, i still find some tiny pieces of glass in the giant cd case i was using (but thank God no functional damage to any of the equipment)...other than that, the gig was awesome...but it was funny how RIGHT at the instance when this happened, everyone crapped in their pants out of fear, and i still remember that moment like it happened yesterday..i swear i thought someone had fired a gun towards us!
