getting the itch for a vacation

It's that time.... I need to get away.. but I can't for the life of my decide on where i want to go.

I'm going to take a week maybe 10 days in Jan. I want to go somewhere that's not totally freezing... that has lots of history.

I don't want to go the caribean/mexico. yes hot is nice, but I don't want to do the tourist trap thing. That's why I'm going I'm going in the off season.

any one have any good suggestions?

exact same feeling here man, i have a window between the 21 and 29 of december, at the expense of missing sasha/digweed.

Tempted by Las Vegas or some other US destination.

I've got the same itch.....I can already feel the need for a vacation affecting my work.....I have 14 vacation days to use yet this year....and if I'm lucky I will use 5 of them.

Mauritius, off the coast of Madagascar, looks gorgeous. A gf of mine is from there and she talks about it like it is the garden of eden

Croatia (ask the Vrk)

Morocco

Another gf did a roadtrip down the western seaboard starting in mexico and ending in Chile. She loved Honduras, Nicaragua and Chile I think (trying to remember her blog site). There was one country I remember she had to drive or ferry around..but not sure which one.

Also Carnaval in rio de Janeiro is feb 3 till 9th I think, which is one of those parties and cities you should really check out at least once

Switzerland or Austria
beautiful - i went two years ago

Vienna is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen
anywhere in europe > anywhere in North America

tickets in January will be freakin cheap (i'm plannng to go to France around that time and I have found a flight for $380)

plus - they are both multi-lingual countries with germanic roots and everyone is a fan of english... so no worries if your Deutsch is not 100%

plus... i'm sure you can find a Club Wundersexxx there

don't forget sergio flores! Damnnn. i'd love to go just for this event!!! Carl Cox, Axwell & A&B i would love to hear the three of them back to back, because it would fulfill almost every EDM need in one night.

For location, i'd LOOOVE to go to Bali, Indonesia!!!! The place looks serene.

I'm leaving for Costa Rica in about 6 days to go bushwhacking in the jungles.. and then leaving again in December for 3 weeks in South America. great thing is that it's summer down there too which means plenty of sand, and very little snow!

Just booked a trip to the Riu resort complex in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic for Mid-December......gonna be off the hook.

I know its not as satisfying as backpacking around Chile or whatever, but All Inclusives are the bomb, gonna drink and eat myself stoopid

that's one thing I don't want to do. I want to have an experience.. see some history. Not just get wasted. I can do that here.

some idea's I had..

Italy
Greece
Prague
Budapest
Tokyo
Beijing
Tialand

The asian spots might be difficult because of the price.. and I'm only going to have about a week. think i would want longer since it's basically 24 hours flying each way.

i wouldn't bother doing Asia if you're only going for a week. you're right in that the flight alone would essentially kill off 2 days.

quite honestly, anything under 2 weeks I'd just do an all inclusive since the flight cost alone might not make it worth it to go elsewhere when you consider how long you'll be going for.

ps. if you're looking to do something more alternative than an all inclusive but you've only gotta week or so I'd suggest Central America.

good site for suggestions --> www.bootsnall.com

I'm off to Vegas on Friday, then hiking the Grand Canyon and then a few days at a resort in Sedona AZ... should be fun.

my coworker is from DR and he was saying that for the first time ever he booked at a resort and not stay wiht family becuase there is so much crime going on that they have a mandatory cerfew at night.....he was saying that there is nothing to do at night unless you stay at a resort (so...good call booking one!)

Prague & Italy are both very good choices, I hear Budapest is real nice too. I am desperate to get back to Spain tho... too bad its not gonna be as cheap as it used to be. Amsterdam is also awesome.
