Laser appreciation thread
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpiKaKiCAUY
I wish the states didnt have that law banning lasers from pointing at the crowd. I read a statistic saying the chances are slim to none for a beam to mess your eye up. It has to be at an exact angle and be at that position for some time for any damage.
Lasers just add so much that basic lights cant do.
Daniel Kandi is pretty good too :P
Re: Laser appreciation thread
I totally agree with you here. When I was at Trance Energy in Holland in March of 2007 in the Hard Trance room, being swallowed up by a 360 degree laser show absolutly blew my mind..

Just don't ever point your camera lens directly in the laser's path!

some of the laser shows into the crowd are safer but there is no such thing as safe crowd scanning. The slower moving the worse, get a static beam in your eye and you will have a life long blur. Some of the beams in that video I wouldnt call safe but that is always argueable. Regaurdless, the laws in the states suck and make my shows that much hard to accomidate clubs.
its nuts how that one laser can split into so many parts. I mean it has colors between a color and what not. THat thing is so powerfull. I mean ive seen multicolored lasers but never one of this level. This thing can do an entire room with effects like the spiral one, instead of just cheesy lettering.

So lasering the crowd is illegal? Is this recent? I was at the Roger Waters show at the bowl this spring and they had a few lasers that swept the crowd. (A huge line of lasers in a rainbow pattern sweeping the crowd during "Any Colour You Like"... blew my mind.)
thanks to the lasers we all can do this little dance right here...
That video was amazing. I was really impressed with the dancing girl halfway through.
the guvernment in toronto has bar none the best laser show in north america..just absolutely mind blowingthe 14 or so lazers shooting off at you over ur head..definitely something to check out if uve never experienced it!
does guvernmnet have that thing where a color is sandwhiched in between another color? ive never seen that done in a laser... so cool.
also, the x and y axis split of the laser. Ive never seen a laser being able to split itself perpendicular. Usually lasers are boring straight lines or a solid cloudy beam. But spinning around to a formation of a spiral and what not is CRAZY.
After this video straight lined lasers and the cloud effect are zzz....

Why are they banned, I mean, can they really ruin your eyes if they only are there for like .1 seconds? I can't say I've sat and stared into one, but lasers are just amazing, great thread.
is there any movement to get that repealed? I want scanning.

the guvs laser is badass. I have personally seen the setup and someone speant a lot of time setting that bad boy up. Nothing beats a nice professional permanent install
it doesnt seem to be able to play with colors all at once though. Seems like one color at a time or multicolor beams but nothing like having blue, green, blue or what not
They probably have color flags instead of an electronic crystal.
edit: i take that back, after watching the steve lawler video again. They have the capability just dont utilize to the fullest with the programming of their software
the guv't has the best lasers i've seen in north america.
turnmills london is my fave...something wild about it sweeping the crowd. when combined with that strobed tube running the length of the room?

and shitty audio, but around the 3:05 mark, head-on lasers
Lasers, are a must. I can't even remember HSII because of em!
here is a laser enthusiast meet up opening show. Its progressive in nature and gets really good at the 4:53 mark
