System Access Fee Lawsuit
Has anyone heard of this class action lawsuit?
http://merchantlaw.com/cellular.html
Yep...But don't bother trying to get the fee waived (at least with Rogers) b/c they have been specifically instructed not to do it.
Instead, threaten to switch companies and get a better plan. Boo yah. I love Rogers.
yeah.
the most I can see coming out of this is something similar to what car dealers have been forced to do...all-inclusive pricing or full disclosure in ads.
with number portability, you have some leverage to walk away and go to another provider (if you're not mid-contract) but that's about it.
by the time a class action suit is settled, there's usually not much left over for everyone. more often than not, unless the settlement is massive, it's to force the other party to comply with a request (like removing the fee or including it in pricing/advertising).
the legal fees alone will negate any awarrds (if the case goes to trial and is successful) that any of us would see, I'd guess.

Ahhh the system access fee. One of the worst parts of selling sell phones. Well, that, and the fact I sold phones for Bell. What a company

However, if you're unhappy with your plan now, and want a cheaper/better one, all you have to do is tell the company you're going to leave and you'll get a better one - that is, if you know how to work them |

Ugh i've been with Telus and i can honestly say it's worse than Bell (and I didn't think that was possible lol). They really don't give a crap when you tell them you'll switch. With Rogers it works every time
I can't even count the amount of free stuff and goodwill credit have given me! I love Rogers!
(Okay admittedly it was their fuckup all of those times but Telus and Bell fucked up for me countless times and did crap all about it)
