Here's my review: biggest waste of $47 I've EVER poured out of my wallet... Made & co. should be ashamed of themselves, and based on random dozens of people I must have spoken with last night, they lost a lot of loyal customers, this was the last straw... $47 advanced tickets x 3500 people = $164,500.... There's no way that amount of money needs to be made, especially on a night that Armin happens to play the worst set I've ever heard him play... First hour was garbage, and I just couldn't take it anymore, I left at 4 on the dot... Bumped into Tom Colontonio (hoped you guys liked the gyro, my insides are on fire, too much hot sauce haha)...

I was better off elongating my pregame with mfelner29, CoolKID, and co., those are where the good times are had... Going to Pacha has become more and more and more "aggravating"... That word describes it all... And Pacha, get a new events/email-blast contact info collector around the coat check area, the guy you have is consistently an asshole, and it seems like he hates his life and wants to die.

The more I look at parties around the world, there's not one party that even measures to the ticket prices Made has been charging lately.... There are festivals with 10 headliners that fit 10,000 people that cost 1/2-1/3 of the price it goes to see ONE of these DJs at Pacha, even after the shitty exchange rate... Armin let me down last night, and so did Made and Pacha, shit was triple-threat.

i didn't go last night cuz i thought it'd probably be packed and paying 40 bucks for a sardine fest is something i don't like doing much anymore. sounds like i was right!

Same conversation every time:

"Hey, you wanna sign up for Pacha's event list?"

"No thanks, I'm already on it"

"Well there are different lists, you should sign up again, you'll get free passes"

"No thanks, I'm all set"

(followed by the same look i would expect to get if i had just said that pedophilia is cool, or that i eat kittens for breakfast)

With me it's always:

"Would you like to sign our special events list, you'll get free admission and emails about our special events coming up?"

"No thanks, man, I get everything already."

"No you don't get everything already."

"I get 3 emails from Pacha and Made per day, and 4 texts a week, I get everything."

"Well maybe should (undiscernible after he trails off and walks away to the next customer to ruin THEIR night)"....

Seriously, I didn't pay $47 to have a shouting match while waiting on a 25 minute long coat check... I've been getting every little detail in Pacha newsletters since it opened, he should recognize me for how many times I've said NO.

you cant blame them for making money. if no one went it would make sense to reduce ticket prices, otherwise why would they do it? but if they had armin in a bigger room, more people would have gone and they were gonna make even more money, but i guess there was nothing available for that date.
i knew it was gonna be packed after last time so i just didnt go.

Man I love those things...lol. We need them in Philly

Posted by partyhopper on Nov-10-2007 17:07:

Armin has indeed officially reached PVD and Tiesto status, of becoming too big to play in a club (at least in NYC)

Also remarkable that the weather didn't affect the turnout

No one's blaming anyone for making money.... But when there's zero risk of failure for a certain party, you HAVE to have some sort of balance between money to be made, that doesn't ask you to rip out your eyes or chop off a finger for entry, that makes your loyal customers happy... McDonald's could obviously raise prices and make more money, because people will always go to McDonald's, but that's just not how it works... There's a certain line that's crossed that goes from "getting your money's worth" to "getting owned". You can't put Armin in Sullivan Room and charge 100$, and so on... It doesn't work that way.

it seems like it works. if they didnt have another place it makes even more sense, because if the tix were 20$ even more people were gonna try to go.

Posted by DJ Eco on Nov-10-2007 17:22:

There's ALWAYS places, Made is so well-connected... I bet you they have Armin and PVD dates secured through 2009 already, that's how far in advance they work, so it's hard to believe they couldn't get another venue, for lack of availability, etc.... There's Terminal 5 (former Exit), a new huge concert venue, there's Highline Ballroom which I've heard is niiiiice... There's Hammerstein, Roseland, Nokia Theater, the list really goes on... There's a certain "thing" that happens when it's at Pacha... You have stairways closed, hip hop upstairs, which could be space for people to enjoy Armin's set without being squished... There's 40% of the club's attendees that would have been there even if JP was playing, and that's taking away from the experience of the fans who are there to see their DJ. If Armin could fill in Tobacco Warehouse, in Brooklyn, then what is the thought process that leads to them thinking they need Pacha to be filled up, it's inevitable that it'll be packed...
