Boat Cruise Sunday May 19th, special guest dj MAX GRAHAM!!!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO the boat cruise season has finally arrived.
Eddy K is throwing this one, I dont know how much tix are YET but they will probably be around 30 dollars are so. More info to come...and oh yea the cruise takes place during the day. From around 12-5

I Cant wait!!!

It will be a good pre-party for GUV that night with Seaman, Maas, Slacker, Green Velvet etc etc...

Well the only thing that bothers me with this is that i'm worried Graham might put me to sleep again and this worries me cause what if i happen to fall over board while i'm crashed?? Fuck he was horrible at Kool Haus, sooo fucken boring...

Also the weather on the May 24 weekend is always an issue, especially if your on the open water..

If anyone can withstand these 2 important factors then you should be able to have a good time; but you can count me out!!

Peace,

itikia

easy killer'

You might think Max Graham is boring. I think Max is fucking brilliant, some of the best production period. His entertainer ora is pure class. His mixing is technically perfect. He's Canadian, hello?

I dunno, I just always feel the need to defend Max, he's by far my favorite DJ for a thousand reasons. I wish I could see him on the boat but I'll be in Europe. Why does life have to be so difficult. haha I love it.

If you find Max boring, wait until you hear Sleaman. It takes a diff type of ear to enjoy prog.

well said man i never heard Max live, but i think he's a fucken brilliant dj..his Tranceport 4 is definately along Oakies 1 of the best Tranceport CD's i wud never say he's boring and hey, at least he's the best known canadian dj on this planet
and its not Sleaman, its Seaman and Seaman is gonna blow me away on may long weekend

Posted by Special K on Apr-30-2002 02:04:

how can you say hes brilliant if youve never even heard him live???

i dont get that...

just because you might think his cd is good, that does not mean that he is good live. Seeing someone LIVE is totally different than hearing a CD of his work, or even a one hour CLIP of a live set.
I dont like Lawlers or Warrens cd's but I think they are amazing live. And some djs have wicked cds but are totally shit live. I just find it odd that you are giving someone that you have never even heard out live before so much praise...???

whatever...

Sleaman was a typo. Thumbs up buddy. heh

Special K, have a rough Max Graham night or what? I think his cd's are nothing compared to his performances. My god, that man is known for his 7 hour sets. I'm not saying you have to like him, I just feel the need to defend him.

Honestly man, give him another chance. On another note tho, I've heard his sets lately have slanted more prog-like. And don't get me wrong, I love progressive, but Max excels at finding the middle ground. I suggest checking out Max Graham - Live at Tonic (1&2). I have em if you want them.

No not at all...Why would you think that? I was not saying he sucked, i was just commenting on how I find it funny when someone says a DJ is fucking brilliant yet has never seen them live before that is all...

Posted by itikia on Apr-30-2002 03:22:

Well since this started with my little sleeping comment i guess i should say something.

There is no doubt that is an amazing dj and he shouldn't be called nothing less than an artist...

However the sleeping attack on Graham was my opinion of his last set at Kool Haus. It was boring, i have heard much better progressive sets and YES i do like progressive. He honestly did not look like he cared to be up there spinning that night, honestly..

I went in there expecting a lot from him, after all i had heard from many people that he had played some awesoem sets in TO.. I heard his set from way back when he was at Tonic with Oakenfold, and that was a good set... BUT @ Kool Haus he literally killed the crowd, Kool Haus emptied out...

I am not bad mouthing him, i'm just critically reviewing his set, thats all. Everyone has their bad sets (unless your PVD)..

Oh yeah: Blue Neon don't assume that your the only one that has the EAR for progressive.

well said. Like I said just defending my man.

I actually heard he got chewed up during his last appearance at GC. Made me sad.

Posted by Jomy on Apr-30-2002 11:48:

he played a nice bangin set in vancouver tonite.
good stuff.

Posted by LKD on Apr-30-2002 14:02:

ok ok...get to the point...

is it all 19+ or all ages????????????

Posted by bluE_Neon on Apr-30-2002 21:11:

wat the hell you guys talking about?
if i do see him live, i know he will kick ass i have a couple of his sets, and they are really good sets, everytime i listen to them i educate myself on his taste and wat to expect from him live, and personally there great sets, so I DO KNOW that he will kick ass, for me that is ...and my reply was backing up halo20 and all of a sudden you guys attack me for no reason

Posted by karim on Apr-30-2002 21:20:

Hah, I wasn't at the Kool Haus show, but judging from all the reviews, I heard he reached deep into his record bag and yanked out classics like 3 drives and really trancy stuff. I heard it was upbeat and full of energy, and not only from 1 review, but from 95%+ of the reviews from that night.

Saying he emptied out the club isn't fair, because his time slot was something like 4 to close. Remember this is the Kool Haus, ie. meat head and gino galore. POSERS. Even when Hybrid was here, they played a ROCKING set, and the place started to empty out after 4.

But a DJ can't have a perfect night everynight. He's still very good.

And special k, judging by his CD, you can very well see what kind of live DJ he is, but not by his programming, because 2 cd's is not enough but by his technical skills. Unlike 99% of the CD's released nowadays, Transport 4 was mixed LIVE, with 2 turntables, and a mixer. Flawless.

I heard him in calgary... and i have heard him many times
lately he has sucked in my opinion... he played a 5 hour set
at metro and it was just a snooze fest it was ALL progressive and built nowhere.. but then again a year ago he played a banging set with some classic trance songs... so i guess it depends!!!
