Thumbs up Planet Earth Premiere Episode Tonight!

Great and interesting series! Who's watching?

quote:
POLE TO POLE
PLANET EARTH's premiere episode, "Pole to Pole," ties the series together with a fresh understanding of how life in every nook and cranny of the globe is connected -- from the highest mountains and darkest caves; shallowest water and deepest oceans; ice-covered lands and great plains; untamed jungles and giant forests; to freshwater and the harshest deserts. The sunward tilt of Earth's orbit dictates all our lives, creating the seasons that trigger one of the greatest spectacles in the world -- the mass migration of animals. It's a unique view of the majesty of our planet and the amazing creatures that live here.

On tonight at 8pm e/p on Discovery.

As in David Attenborough's Planet Earth? Surely you can't only be hearing about this now? It's as old as it is amazing. What the deuce?

As in Sigourney Weaver's Planet Earth. Same difference though. It already aired on discovery last year. Hardly a 'premiere'

Yea, was gonna say. Fantastic program - People would have been missing out if this is the first time of airing where you are.

In an effort to Americanize (bastardize) Planet Earth, they had Sigourney Weaver narrate the whole series for the Discovery version.

Oh for fuck's sake.

Posted by idoru on Nov-12-2007 00:22:

I really couldn't care who narrates it. It's a fucking amazing series regardless.

Posted by D-res on Nov-12-2007 00:27:

^ No doubt

david attenborough narrating was almost as good as the footage
american bastardisation in full force

Posted by idoru on Nov-12-2007 00:30:

And psht, forget watching re-runs on TV. My brothers friend brought the DVDs over and accidentally left them here. If I have my way, he'll never see them ever again.

could you imagine them watching eurovision with terry wogan at his fascist best

they'd have fox cover it

"great hustle, Estonia"

Anyone who says they don't care about narrating clearly just hasn't paid attention.

Attenborough is made of win, I can't even watch it when it's on TV over here. Weaver's narration is utter shit by comparison.

Further - hers also came over a year after the BBC initially aired it. So yeah, Attenborough FTW.

she has a soothing voice on it, have you heard it? :P

Posted by Ian on Nov-12-2007 00:58:

why would I want to. His voice is just perfect for narratives. He could narrate my life for me if he worked for free, or bacon sarnies.

Wow sorry fellas, I wasn't contacting well with the conscious world when I posted this. I actually meant to post about Fearless Planet .

ive been watching the dvd's for a little while now. I watched the ocean one, and the planet earth one. It is good times - totally best made documentary style stuff ever.

i didn't realize they were continuing to make more, and airing it on TV. I thought it was a DVD strictly deal.
awesome.

too bad they're so damn expensive.
