Dream Theater

So the other day I had this sudden urge of grabbing my two old Dream Theater albums for the first time in like 4 years...and I was totally blown away yet again. It's basically, besides perhaps Radiohead and some dEUS, the only non-electronic band I'm willing to spend time on, which says it all for me. I feel that I'm able to appreciate the complexity the older I become and it also corelates with a change in my EDM taste, awy from 4/4 trance in 2000 to jazzy, relaxed, experimental music in 2007.
Whatever, just felt like sharing and checking if there are any other admirers of that genius band that is Dream Theater.
Oh and also, I posses "Scenes From A Memory" and "Images&Words", can you recommend albums in the same style, meaning melodic, moody, and not so much wild and heavy? I zapped through their new "Systematic Chaos" and wasn't a big fan of that style.

Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence is probably my favorite album of theirs. i don't listen to much progressive rock but my brother got me into them years ago and i was immediately hooked after i heard that CD. if you ever have the chance to see them live, i highly recommend it.

Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence is one of my favorites as well. Octavarium has some softer songs too. My favorite DT album has to be Scenes from a Memory. Not a big fan of their last album.

Did Portnoy do a solo?

Portnoy is god, reminds me of Ian Paice.

They are definitely one of the most talented rock bands out there. In fact, they totally redefine what rock music is.

Nice band, this guy from my base actually recommended them to me about a month ago but i stupidly ignored him.

Now that i listen to some of their stuff and i gotta admit that i wasnt suprised like that in a long time..."Home" just blew me away...

Are the guys in this band are also members in other bands like Iron Maiden??
