Maybe someone can shed some light on this to me. What the hell is all the violence about?? Also, have they ever heard of restrictions, or metal detectors? Moreover, why the hell do they let fans bring flammable shit into the stadium?

It's a real shame... If any of those two sides' fans were in the middle of the street without their jerseys on, they'd strike up a conversation about how the North is screwing them (they're from Sicily, and most Southerners have a huge disdain for the North and the government, and likewise/vice-versa).... Yet, when they have their jerseys on, it's a whole other story... It's like a Devils vs. Rangers but 100 times worse... As far as the flammable shit is concerned, those "fumogini" (smoke bombs) are snuck in, since security checks are very minimal, especially in the South... So a usual Italian game in the South goes on with like 5 or 6 of those things exploding per-game, nothing really out of the ordinary...

Yeah pretty much... About four years ago, I went to see Bologna vs. Roma... My dad was a Bologna fan because Roberto Baggio was playing there, and my dad's a player-fan, not a team-fan, he followed him onto every team he's ever played on... So we were in Roma watching the game, and basically, we didn't let my dad wear the jersey OR scream when/if Bologna scored... It was really scary, there were fights, there were those exploding things, there were scuffles even right in front of us... That being said, it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life, but I couldn't see myself going or bringing my family to something like that every week, it really is a badass's sport to go watch, sometimes (depends on the teams playing)...

James..I registered on a Football Hooligan website,,you should do the same...Fucking with the heads of these scum bags is gonna be fun....
You should see Polish people and how crazy they are at Football matchs , its fuckin insaine ! Its really stupid from my point of view because the team wins they fight the team loses they fight , it has nothing to do with soccer or watching the game its just THEY LOVE TO FIGHT thats there thing and when some one else has a jersey on of a team from another city they hate its an excuse to go and fuck them up . When I was in poland I went to see Poland play and it was different everybody was as one no fights every one was chanting , having a great time but when it comes to clubs then it a different story poland right now is like what england was in the 70's 80's . Right now in England , germany you can go with your family to a match and enjoy it in poland hooligans / skinheads / regular fans atend matchs nobody brings there children because you just never know what is going to happen . They started to step it up like if they catch you fighting you will be band for life but it dosnt really do much when some one has a scraf or mask over there face .
If you ever watched football Factory and you liked it watch this , if you wanna see how it is in Poland . This video is cool it shows poland and the dude who played in football factory hosts it check it out .

By the way, this article was from FEBRUARY 2007.... The incident you were probably looking for (because of the game cancellations this weekend) is a different article... A cop stopped a group of kids at a rest stop coming from the game, and his gun "accidentally" went off and shot a fan in the neck, so a few games were cancelled because of the riot they thought would ensue...
I thought it was the same article

Yeah^^ That's this weekend's story, but the original post had this one (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/6330009.stm) which made me assume they were related, but then I remembered that h appened earlier this year...
