the only way is hardcore baby.
run regedit, and start deleting keys. take the risk, and start killing keys without any regard.

on a serious note, yes AVG is highly regarded. if you want to see a list of popular pay/free anti-virus programs out there, go to

http://www.virustotal.com/sobre.html

go to the Credits section.

It's not so much about what programs you use, it's how you run them and if the viruses are active when you do. To cure everything, do this;

Get:
AVG Free
Spybot
Ad-aware
MS Antispyware (Windows Defender?)

Install

Update definitions

Reboot and press F8 lots before the Windows logo comes up. You get a menu, go to "Safe Mode With Command Prompt". This will make sure hardly any processes are running, so the progs can actually delete the viruses in use etc. Run the programs and do full scans. You can run the from the command line or you can Ctrl+Alt+Del and go "run".

just kidding. The best spyware is to create restricted user names under your xp profile for internet surfing and fapping so nothing is written under the administrator account and files are protected

pretty much the way to go. I'd also suggest the online trojan scanner on trendmicro's website as well as using Hijackthis (hijackthis.de i believe) to do a scan of processes which are running & how safe they are. Couple that up with a good firewall, or a well setup one at least, and you'll be a lot better off

Try Kaspersky Antivirus. Download one month fully functional trial version. It's awesome and currently one of the best. Very fast and very powerful.

You can read a review here : http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,130873/article.html

You won't need to install any other spyware in combination with this software. The only thing is that it's not free. But if your computer is infected atm, this will remove any infection and keep it virus free for atleast one month. After that, stop browsing p0rn websites.

i've never been able to (and probably never will) get used to using Macs. i've had PCs my entire life and it's what i use at work, so for now i'm PC all the way.

thanks for the recommendations, guys. i downloaded AVG Free last night but my computer was so bogged down that i gave up and just shut it off before i had a chance to let it run. will be back at it in a few hours once i get home. i'll let you know how it goes.

Best antivirus/antispyware program out there, it's worth the yearly membership price and it's updated everyday. AVG is o.k. but it won't none of those free programs will be able to keep up with the newly developed viruses, spyware, trojans etc. As for the free programs, I also run windows defender with Kaspersky, never had a problem once.

This is the wrong way to be thinking.

Many viruses know how to subvert the popular AV programs. This is why Norton and McAffe are useless, despite the fact that they have the most comprehensive definitions available.
