So what IS up with Dubfire anyway?

Are people really buying into him as the newest, most MAXIMAL minimal producer on the planet right now? Or has Hawtin's positronic matrix blown a fuse with that extra hair on his scalp?

dubfire, do not want

Not defending the guy, but Deep Dish were pretty popular. If that fanbase now supports Dubfire's attempt to be a serious artist, then i can understand some of the popularity. However unjustified.

I don't think many people care either way.

ZOMG DEEPDISH BREAKS UP FOREVER

I liked Deep Dish in their "Junk Science era"... After that I didn't cared much about them. Also, I kinda think that Dubfire's work now is much overrated. Probably because of "ex Deep Dish" adjective connected with his name...

In my opinion, he is cashing in on a sound that has already been done to death. All of his tracks are long and repetitive. You hear the same loop throughout the entire 8 minutes with other subtle sounds that come and go. Honestly, I don't mind that but guess what, we already have someone who does that brilliantly and that's Radio Slave. Thanks Dubfire, while your sound is good, we don't need a cheap knock off of the real deal.

haven't liked anything out of dubfire yet

at least sharam didn't take himself seriously

Posted by danj.l on Nov-13-2007 21:44:

his new track is such shit that i cant believe anyone is buying it and that its on the beatport top 10.

it sounds like the same shitty loop over and over again. i cant believe people can get down to this. he just jumped on the mnml bandwagon and brought nothing new. i can see why he calls it minimal because he probably sat down for 5 minutes to come up with it. total shiite.

beep gleep glop beep gleep glop

Oh now you're just being completely ridiculous...

Posted by LoveHate on Nov-13-2007 23:09:

ribcage works well mashed up with other tracks.

Posted by Ian on Nov-13-2007 23:10:

it could be worse. He could be making fart-bassline remixes of 80s songs.

Posted by bobba lou on Nov-13-2007 23:10:

I wonder if his producer would have made it on his own. I doubt M_nus would have picked up the tracks if they had not come neatly packaged with an already well established name in EDM, to boost sales, and provide his own marketing. It's business first with that lot.
