Love Poundin' Sensation Windmill Sessions 11 November (deep, melodic-ness)

Windmill Sessions 11 November

Brand new monthly mix for your listening pleasure! Its deep and melodic tuneage with very deliberate set progression and structure, that I hope comes across. Hopefully it can bring some light to those cold November days

The Quasar-Bonfire
Pikuli-Flowers Of Life
Arthur Deep-Purple Silence
Solesystem-Reflections
Dynamic Illusion-Rainbow Colours
The Quasar-Source Of Time
Arthur Deep-Beyond Reality
Aeron Aether-Abandon (fretwell remix)
Pikuli-Painter
Deadmau5-Jaded
4Mal-Lonely Days (matthew adams remix)
Espen+Elusive-Pubic Bear

The Quasar-Bonfire
A dark and expectant introduction to the mix that works well to provide a backdrop full of deep sounds. Huge dollops of tense atmosphere in this!
Pikuli-Flowers Of Life
The life-affirming melodies of 'Flowers Of Life' sparkle into being next, quite deliberately in contrast with the bleaker opening.
Arthur Deep-Purple Silence
A producer with a burgeoning reputation supplies a stripped-back melodic number. Great soothing music.
Solesystem-Reflections
A deep groovy track that would work well in a club. Melodic washes and vocal hints aplenty here and a real grower.
Dynamic Illusion-Rainbow Colours
A serene and melodic offering from Dynamic Illusion. Its very easy to drift away with this track!
The Quasar-Source Of Time
Superb, quirky progressive track that brings a new sound while retaining the melodic feel. Spacey deep shenanigans.
Arthur Deep-Beyond Reality
Wonderful dreamy breakbeat next up as the mix starts to dish out the emotion more readily.
Aeron Aether-Abandon (fretwell remix)
More breakbeat action in the form of the piano-led 'Abandon'. Huge throbbing bass is the standout feature of this track.
Pikuli-Painter
Picking up the tempo now with the gloriously uplifting 'Painter'. Cascading and scaling melodies, pacey basslines and distinctive percussion all used to great effect.
Deadmau5-Jaded
Moving into the larger sounds now with this electro-influenced, repeating melody-styled track by the prolific Deadmau5.
4Mal-Lonely Days (matthew adams remix)
Typical Matthew Adams quality shines through in this track. Deep and euphoric, proggy and trancey all to the theme of summery sounds.
Espen+Elusive-Pubic Bear
Brilliant stuff again from this duo out of Norway. Tight, detailed production values, a great sense of energy and all brought together by one of those sumptuous melodies. Beautiful music!

Nice to hear any opinions, hope you like!

Crazy week at work, sir. Looks like it will be the weekend before I get to give this a proper listen/review. Bear with me, it's in the works.

Another great set here. I notice how your mixing gets a little better every month. I've always enjoyed the tracklistings but they just keep getting better. My favorite two tracks on this set are Espen+Elusive-Pubic Bear and The Quasar-Source Of Time. Keep it up.

Eleven in a row. Eleven mixes of pure, deep, progressive quality. Outstanding, mate! This set opens with an almost foreboding mood, but then with Purple Silence and Reflections you move us into this spacey, atmospheric, and even contemplative mood for a while. Rainbow Colours is aptly named, for this tracks seems to bring with it a sunny, afternoon warmth. The mix takes a new direction with Source of Time. Im not sure how to describe this track, really, but I enjoyed it very much. I cannot recall having heard anything quite like it before. The brief xylophone sound in the breakdown reminded me a little of Riders on the Storm by The Doors, a massive track in its own right. Beyond Reality picks up the emotion with a lush breakdown. A perfect breakbeat number here. Nice mix into Abandon, which explodes to life with that bass line! Love the lead melody in this track as well! Couple of nice breakdowns to go along with all that bass and melody, too. Painters unique melodies and percussion work well here to really bring the mix alive as in enters its last quarter or so. The percussion has this almost island feel to it, reminiscent of steel drums or something. Love the mix into Jaded, mate. Well done! Jadeds been a favorite of mine since I first heard it, and it fits well into your set here. I float away on that breakdown. The mix out of Jaded into Lonely Days is also just top notch mixing. Again, well done. Your final mix is nailed, too, and the computerized vocals are great in Pubic Bear. They remind me of Pink Floyds The Division Bell album. Silly name, but what the hell.

From a technical point of view, your mixing is always right on, but this set really stands out for me, personally. Smooth, top notch mixing from start to finish. This is some of your best mixing, phrasing, and EQing to date. I wish my skills were even half as sharpened. Justwow.

As a side note, I watched Milkdrop 1.04 on Winamp as I listened to the majority of this, and it synced up amazingly well.

Thanks mate. You have great taste, those two tunes are pretty much my faves from the set too. As for the mixing, there has been a gradual improvement yeah, glad its noticeable. Thanks again for taking the time to listen and review as always.

.....wow, what can I say?! I'm astounded! Quite literally the best review/analysis I have ever read!! Summed it up perfectly, better than I could anyway. Was an absolute pleasure to read!
To address the points:
-the way you describe the set progression in terms of tone and atmosphere is spot-on and exactly how I feel about those particular tracks in relation to each other.
-Source of Time is unique yeah, melodic and quirky! Havnt heard that track by The Doors, might have to find it and compare.
-Espen and Elusive always make "imaginatively" titled tracks but are consistently brilliant, totally agree about the great use of robotic vocals, adds something new.
-Thanks for the comments about the good mixing Its all about the smooooooooothness!

Awesome sir, makes it a bloody pleasure to put up these mixes.

It's a bloody pleasure to LISTEN to these mixes! I just got off the decks, mixed up a little ISOS6 vinyl sampler, some Glenn Morrison, and some Jaytech on AnjunaDeep. My god I want CDJs sooooo bad right now.

No problem. I think we all know quality programming and mixing when we hear it. There's no shortage of talent in your sets, and there's no shortage of talent here in this forum!
