WIP for technical comments
Here is a clip of my current production (it's quiet because I no longer touch the master):

Basically, this buildup takes three cycles -- intro, middle (more bassy), and final (more tempest like). I trimmed out the length of time it takes for the middle groove to progress because I do not have all my pads, leads, and other parts in enough shape to make it -- they are constantly making me displeased.
The kick goes through one additional layer and the bass, two (rolling, off-beat to harsh). Four synthesizers, bumped or recorded went into the making of the bassline in it's final, layered-anarchy form.
I could probably use a few cracks of the whip on the hats since hats have always been my weak point.
Yes, I do have a vision in my head on what the final project should be (artistically). It's a melodic, theatrical piece designed to be both high in energy and ethereal. I hope that I can pull it off soon before classes begin... again.
It is mixed entirely on semi-open phones.
I am not very experienced so i can't give you much technical advice. But i like where the song is going post it when you finish
Gave it a listen, and I can't give any judgement yet! I need to hear a bit more

Kinda hard to comment on short clips...this has some nice atmosphere to it though...it's throwing a lot of bass at me through the speakers. The sound of it is good, but potentially a bit overwhelming, maybe could be brought down just a bit.
Sounding good, keep going with it!
Thanks for the comments. I deserved short comments for short clips, sorry...
I am in the process of building and rebuilding the more melodic and pad instruments of the piece. I have been mixing at very low volume to be technically sound. It is also because I use to abuse my sequencer by mixing at high volume, and I'm corecting my bad habits...
One question... at the moment, I have turned things down the the point where when I have the most aggressive part of the drum/bass/hats sounding, pads and a lead, I get -3db peaks on my master.... is that overkill, or is it wise caution? I've got my kick peaking at -11db as the reference point for everything else!!
Do a search on posts by Atlantis-AR. He had some really good tips and pointers about levels and such. One thing he said is to have the kick peak at -8dB and being the loudest element in the mix, then mix the other elements around it.
