Way to go Sunny.

I live in the wonderful state of Georgia where I am sure many of you know is suffering from a drought. It made national news yesterday when our wonderful governor decided to hold a prayer session at the capitol to pray for water.

When in the hell did the tax payers of this state elect Sunny so he could pray? Why doesn't he take action? Why didn't he take action a while ago? Let the religious leader of the state take care of the prayer and start coming up with some kind of real plan to correct this problem before we all end up without any water at all.

He could take control of the dam and lake away from the Army Corp of Engineers and reduce the amount of water released. He could have put way more serious restrictions on way earlier. He could have stopped the building of the snow mountain at Stone Mountain that was being built in summer so Georgians could ski. There are all kinds of things he could have done well before he was left with very few options like he is now.

clearly. Although I don't know why he would be punishing all the surrounding states because we elected Sunny. I guess it sucks to be adjacent to Georgia.

im sure he is not putting all his money on the hope jesus will answer his prayer. work is being done with the army cor of engenieers to see if they restrict water from flowing down to florida, digging and watering bans. hes not an idiot you know. if he wants to hold his prayer thing, let him do it... you dont agree with it, dont go.

he can hold the prayer meeting at his home. Not outside the state capitol building.

why not? hes not forcing anyone to pray. nor specifying what religion... the whole "separation between church and state".... was made for good reasons, but its getting ridiculus how people are so angered about him holding a prayer in the state capitol.

Not everybody is a Christian and not everybody believes in God. It is the responsibility of government officials who represent the people, to leave their personal religious views at home before reporting to work. Instead of wasting his time in praying, he might as well have co-ordinated some more relief efforts. If he thinks he's done everything in his capacity to help the situation, then he needs to quit. NOW.

you can. But he's not.

quote:
"Oh father, we acknowledge our wastefulness," Perdue said. "But we're doing better. And I thought it was time to acknowledge that to the creator, the provider of water and land, and to tell him that we will do better." Hundreds of Georgians -- ministers and lawmakers, landscapers and office workers -- gathered in downtown Atlanta for the prayer vigil. Some held bibles and crucifixes. Many swayed and linked arms as a choir sang "What a Mighty God We Serve" and "Amazing Grace."

As metropolitan Atlanta's water supplies drain to record lows, many across the Southeast have criticized Perdue and other Georgia officials for failing to introduce more stringent conservation measures. Gil Rogers, an attorney with the Southern Environmental Law Center, said he worried that hoping for miracles could detract from more practical efforts to conserve water. "We shouldn't look at it as 'Once the rains come we'll be fine,' " he said. "We'd all like to see rain, but this doesn't get us any closer to sustaining water management in Georgia."

I'm sorry, if your state voted for Bush (which I think GA did), the people of your state are considered by most of us to be 1)uneducated and 2)Christian, in which case praying for rain probably will get you reelected.
