My Entire Record Collection for free, to anyone who digitizes it for me.

Wanted: One ambitious, trustworthy, music lover with lots of free time. I'm looking to give away about 300 records, mostly trance, with lots of prog, and some house and some psy, to anyone that will take on the task of recording all my records into .wav or .aif files.

There are a few conditions...

1) It's all or nothing, I need a commitment to finish the whole job, otherwise its useless to me.

2) I want every tune from every record, both sides, ect ect

3) All the naming of files must conform to my system, and the sound files must be trimed nicely at the start and end.

4) You must have your own turntable and a decent soundcard. It doesn't have to be top of the line, just nothing that sounds like shit.

I'll supply a drive and give lots of time to complete the task, ie a 3-4 months.

Obviously there is a lot of trust involved, so I need to feel confident that the person won't take off with my hard drive and records.

If you are up for the task, hit me up with a pm and we'll talk!

i've been toying with the idea of posting this for a long time. i spent sometime asking people personally, but had no luck, so I thought I would bring it to the TA massive and see what happens!

wow. i hope this works out for you andrew.

quite the conversation and task. much success. best of luck.

I would do it if I had a turntable I have a soundcard that does SPDIF input and my DJM800 has SPDIF digital output, so the sound will be recorded and going through two processors for a digital sound. Wanna lend me your turntable? lol

Turntable > Pioneer DJM-800 > M-Audio Audiophile 192

I have a Numark TTX practically brand new sitting around doing nothing... it has SPDIF out...

...I don't mind lending it out in exchange for some trance vinyl

how much time do you need?

Posted by Orko on Nov-15-2007 17:08:

I had offered to do this a while ago, but alas have no TT.

If we could work out some sort of arrangement with somebody...I have the time, the sound card, the hard drive space, and the experience ripping.

225 hrs of music, digitized in real-time...that's almost 9.5 days of non-stop transfer. Plus cue, edit and file time, this is a big job.

At 3hrs of transfer per day, you're looking at 75 days just to do the A/D conversion. 45 days at 5 hrs/day.

If my calculations are correct (I'm sure I'll be told if they're not), this is about 132GB of music (assuming .wav is 10MB/minute).

That's big, yo.

Fak!

The only thing that's been holding me up from coming through with my offer is a ride.

I'd seriously do it and my offer still stands homie. If someone can offer/hook me up with a ride from your place to mine with ALL the crates...I"ll gladly take them off your hands and spend the time I have to get it done.

TBH bro. I just couldn't see myself running back and forth 3,4,5, times on a bus, etc... grabbing small amounts of records at a time. I'd rather grab them all in one shot. I honestly don't have the time to run missions like the ones it'll take to and from your place.

Weird, cause I actually just asked a buddy of mine like 3 days ago if he would do me the fav. with his truck, but he's in Sauga and hasn't gotten back to me.

lol. Right! I have no clue what I'm doing.

p.s. sound card is secondary to burner when it comes to ripping. Also, Andrew would provide the HD.

Besides, Nashi's don't vote.

Posted by Chris Allen on Nov-16-2007 07:09:

I'm going to have to say I can't do this. As much as I'd like to help you out and go through all that delicious vinyl, I just don't have the time, and I'm now realizing you need them all in .wav so I actually don't have that sort of HDD space avail right now.

Good luck on the quest though. Hell of a great offer for anyone

no no, don't take it the wrong way. there are a few qualified people on here who could do it, i just know orko personally and he's a techie who knows alot about this sort of stuff.

never meant to sound like no one else knows how to rip and encode properly.

i'm starting to think my 80 gig drive won't be able to handle it!

I tried contacting you a few times, and you never got back so i figured you wernt interested anymore.

if i knew it was just a ride holding you back, i would help arrange trans. my roommate has a car and i have friends with cars too!

i bet some of these records would sound pretty nice at those viva (club rio) gigs you be playing!
