Assasins creed anyone?
I picked it up. not bad, graphics are pretty good, cept some models feel "meh".
very bizar concept for the game, and a little unnecessary if you ask me.
If I remember, I'm probably going to pick it up for my PS3 after I get out of work later today. From what I've read, there does not seem to be any downsides of the PS3 version in comparison to the 360s, which is a nice relief for me.
I have AC.
It rocks. There's one thing though: don't rush through. Take your time, and enjoy the environments, sidequests, combat and parkouring.
I have it for PS3, you can clearly see some tearing now and then, but it's not a gamebreaker.
Reviews are all over the place for this game. Some are calling it a true disappointment, while others are saying its fantastic. ill give a rental on the ol PS3 at some point.
I bought this game with a bit of apprehension (due to the reviews) instead of picking up Kane & Lynch (which is getting rough reviews - but I still think I'll pick up once I can get used) and Mario Galaxies (which has received universal acclaim), and though I have only played through about the first hour of it, but I really like it so far. The controls are different, but after a short while feel very intuitive, the graphics are pretty incredible even on just a component video cable, and in general it does feel like a unique experience, which seems to be more and more rare.
I really don't really agree with the reviews that are around 6.0 so far, but maybe that will flesh itself out as the game goes on. So far though, I'm pretty optimistic on it - it's been nothing but fun to this point.
As far as initial feel goes, I'm giving it a cautiously optimistic 8, and we'll see where it goes from here.

Alright - so here's the thing. If you like the way the game plays quite a bit and can deal with a LOT of cut scenes, then this game deserves all the praise it's getting (even the 10's).
However, if you don't - this will be the height of tedium for you. Tasks are very repetitive, cut scenes are plentiful (and sometimes have very, very little information that most gamers will care about), and in general there isn't a high level of "depth" to the experience like you'd find in games like Galaxies or Bioshock.
That being said - I love it. Absolutely. The gameplay itself is very intuitive, the graphics are beautiful, and the free-running aspect of the game is truly something to behold. I'm only about half way through, but I'll still maintain my 8+ rating so far, but will caution that I completely understand why there are such vastly differing reviews. It seems bound to be a "love/hate" experience that will divide gamers opinions starkly.
Probably a rent before purchase, but again - I'm not missing my $60.
With the reviews so far, I'll agree with RJT that this game is very love/hate. Try a rental first, because if you dig the style, its incredible.
so...if i was a huge fan of the prince of persia games, skip the rental and just buy it?
I was pretty disappointed that AC didn't come to PC the same time it arrived for the consoles
Looooong wait

I've been looking forward to this game ever since I first heard of it. I love this time period and setting.
Then I read all the negative reviews and thought I should just skip it.
But this thread made me change my mind.
Too bad I won't have my 360 back for another 2 or 3 weeks.
GAH This game pisses me off.
Since i have 360 i was running around trying to get all the viewpoints and all the save citizens before going to the assassins headquarters.
Problem with that is now i can't find any objectives for my mission.
I did it in 2 cities, the first city i thought "oh i must be in the wrong city for some reason'
no.
lesson learned.
Dont get all the viewpoints until you've killed everyone you need to.
7.5 / 10
i really like this game, picked it up last week and am almost done with it. i know its part of a trilogy so i want to see what is going to happen at the end. my only gripe about the is not the repetativeness of the missions (like pick pocketing or interrogation) but when you save the citizens, they only say like 4 different things, i mean come on, at least have them say like 10 different things. its ok though, hopefully they improve on that in the next two. other than that, graphics are beautiful. i really like the cities and just going through them, really nice game 8.5/10 and i have it for xbox 360
and btg, why not get all the view points till you've killed everyone. usually i do all the missions first like view points, save citizens and 6 investigations before the assassination.
Never played anything like this. Totally awesome. Controls take quite some getting used to, but damn this game is good.
Great Game
Yo BTG!! That happened to me in Damascus, but I realized you have to go to the now unlocked area of the map. Listen to where the bureau hobo says, he'll tell you "check out the hospital in the south-east or bla bla.
I climbed all the view points and found that if you look in the distance you can see eagles still flying around citadels and minarets in the distance. Often if you just browse around those areas around where he initially tells you to check, you'll see the 'pickpocket' text come up and that means they are in the area.
My advice, listen to the dude's info before you start the mission!

I beat this game yesterday, but not without experiencing mass frustration. This game IMO doesn't have too much replay value for me so I traded it in today for $30 in store credit. Not too bad. It was fun while it lasted.
Not only that but I can def live without that glitch that caused the game to freeze. Bye bye Assassin's Creed!
i played till the first assasination
I like it, like you said takes a while to get used to the controls.
Graphics is amazing, haven't played a better looking game yet (no i haven't played crysis)
Just finished the game - and I have to say I can't wait to go and trade it in.
I'm glad I played through it, but by the end it just seemed to drag on for so long - and the story is nowhere near compelling enough to warrant it. Throw in one of the most god-awful-not-satisfying-at-all endings I've seen in gaming, and my final score is a 6.
Showed loads of early promise, but couldn't hack it in the long haul.
Going to pick up Mass Effect as soon as I'm done with the dishes
Thats what Im hearing...Apparently the initial awesomeness is through the roof, but the game has no replay value and gets repetitive after a while. Thanks for the confirmation, if I wanna endure this Ill rent it.

methinks RJT should wait til he's almost finished a game before posting his reviews
im still in two minds whether to pick up the director's PC cut which sounds better than the original but that not necessarily saying much.
boring. Easy. No replay value. Try to go on collect all of them flags and understand why I'm saying that. I'm glad I borrowed that game, it's another one for the "piling dust" category.
I just finished this game. This is so good. I am waiting for Assasin's Creed 2.
