Unhappy Strange Cubase SX issue - can't load VST instruments!

Hello! I re-installed Cubase SX after formatting my hard drive recently.

I had used it successfully before... Now I have an issue

I had already installed my plugins to F:\program files\vstplugins previously. I've been using them in FL Studio just fine.

When I installed Cubase, I opened the Plugin information file and updated my vst directory to the one where my plugins reside.

When I started up Cubase, I saw it was loading all my plugins on the splash screen. - so far so good!

But when I go to the VST device window (F11) and try to add an instrument to my project, all I see are the native plugins and my VST effects. I do not see my instruments.

When I go to the Plugin information, I see SOME of my plugins and make sure they are checked, but they still don't show up in the device list. Also, some of my plugins do not show up at all!

This is very frustrating. I don't know what to do...

My plugins in the same folder work just fine in FL Studio

Thanks for your help!

VST plugins go in X:\Program Files\Steinberg\VSTPlugins\ by default in Cubase. Are you sure they're actually loaded?
You might need to change some setting in Cubase.

Well, I guess I'll try reinstalling all my plugins to that folder
So, I put them in the folder where I installed cubase? For example, E:\program files\steinberg\VST plugins?

Would it work to just copy my VST folder to this location?

Yes it should work. But I think it is possible to point Cubase to another folder than the default one. Try looking in the preferences.
I'm not at home so I can't confirm if it is possible.

You can direct Cubase to a different VST folder, don't install to the Cubase folder if your VST's are already installed elsewhere, there is no need, like Eldritch says check your Cubase preferences, there is definately the option to select another folder in there somewhere

I don't think people are reading my thread right. I already pointed to the new VST folder, I see the VST's in the 'plugin info' box but not listed as selectable VST's. Only effects can be selected, not instruments.

Guess no one ever had this issue...

Got it working. Had to completely uninstall cubase and reinstall. DOn't know why... Thanks though!
