BT & Grafiti (leama and James Davis) support global warming campaign

NWF is Turning the Tables on Global Warming

Purpose/Audience:
To engage, empower, and enlist young voters (age 18-30) in the movement to confront global warming.

Event (Tactic):
Leverage the reach, power, and passion of electronic music artists through a series of Turn the Tables events hosted by top DJs at premier nightclubs in key American citiesstarting in Washington, DC on December 8.

Goal:
Mobilize young, urban Americans to pressure Congress into passing strong legislation that includes reducing global warming pollution by 2% a year for the next 40 years.

Talking Points:

1. About the Campaign

The worlds most vulnerable people and wildlife will be most impacted by global warming.

Global warming isnt fair.

Those least-equipped to cope with global warmings scientifically-predicted impactswhich include severe droughts, wild fires, floods, severe weather, and rising sea-levelswill suffer the most. And wildlife species least able to adapt to these environmental shifts face increasing battles for survival.

But theres hope. The next generation of American voters can turn this around.

Americans comprise just 5% of the worlds population, yet produce 25% of the worlds global warming pollution.

Scientists tell us we need to set a target of reducing global warming pollution by 80% by 2050 to prevent catastrophic climate change.

We can achieve that goal by reducing global warming pollution by 2% each year.

We are calling on Congress to pass legislation with four key elements. It must:

Reduce U.S. global warming pollution by 2% each year to achieve an 80% reduction in emissions by 2050.

Help wildlife adapt to changes in habitat and climate.

Help poor communities to cope with global warming impacts - such as severe weather, flooding, drought - both at home and abroad.

Create growth opportunities and green jobs as our economy shifts to new energy sources and technology.

2. About the Events

NWF is organizing Turn the Tables events at premier nightclubs to engage, empower, and enlist young voters in the fight to stop global warming.

Turn the Tables events give electronic music artists and Americas young voters a voice in the movement to stop global warming.

Our first event is December 8 at Fur Nightclub in Washington DC. The international line-up includes BT, Grafiti (Leama & James Davis), DJ Monk, and Palash. Theyll be joined by local favorites DJ Neekola, Matt Nordstrom, and Delphi (Hetzel & Lara).
