Which cable goes where?

Hey all, i finally got myself some studio monitors for my bday. (KRK Rokit 5) so yesterday i needed to buy some xlr cables for the speakers and i decided to hook my studio up properly. I went out and bought myself 2 midi cables to hook my midi keyboard to my virus ti to my korg zero 8 mixer.
Im not sure if im doing any thing wrong but shouldnt i be able to play with the keyboard if its connected to the virus without a computer? Well its not happening for me. Can someone give me any tips?
Oh by the way the MIDI comtoller is a edirol pcr-30 and i have the virus Ti desktop'

as long as you are you using analog outs on your ti as your outputs and not your USB

i am using the power and not the usb.
i have set the midi channel on the keyboard, how do i do it on the ti

oh and Zombie0729 what do you mean by analog outputs.

basically this is how i got the cables setup. Edirol (Midi out) to Virus ti (midi in). Virus ti (midi out) to Korg Zero8 (Midi in)

Is that right.

and then master audio out on the korg to whatever your listening to is how you should do it I think. I'm not sure though, I don't own hardware.

The Virus TI and I have never been acquainted before, but I'm assuming that you have some speakers hooked up to it?

dude. you need to go into your virus menu and change the output of the device from USB to Analog Outs. you have outputs on your virus TI that are 1/4" but you need to tell your virus to send signal there and not to the USB(default)

Jesus H Christ, it still amazes me that people will go out and spend serious amounts of cash, on high end equipment without having the most basic of knowledge on how to plug it in, or worse, be able to figure out they should RTFM when they run in to "trouble".

ok every one i figured it out. Before i continue to all thoes people that did not anything more constructive to say other than to read the manual, go screw yourself. It had nothing to do with the virus... I also posted a thread on the korg forum, looks like wasn't the only one with the problem. because i connected the virus via midi to the zero8 it without updating the firmware it recognized it but it would not be able to read the data for some reason. with the update it working fine.

Absolutely. But none the less, it really does piss me off when people go "I just got all this top end kit and I don't have a clue how to use it properly"....and I don't mean to come across moody but your post earlier clearly shows that you don't know what you're doing when it comes to hooking your gear up, Korg firmware problem or not, becuase the audio outputs of the virus needed to go somewhere to get some sound output.

I think all people are getting at with RTFM posts is an onging and growing problem on this site from various noobs really asking questions that are covered in the first chapter of decent sound thery book or first week of audio engineering course. To people who have been at this a few years, these questions can be very annoying and pointless.

What would be usefull however, is a link to that korg forum page with the fix for this issue or a bit of insight from yourself for future users of this set up???
