Cubase SX Audio files question

Hey guys -

I love Cubase so much... It's everything I ever wanted in a sequencer. I'll send out the wedding invitations later! :P

Anyhoo, one thing that irks me is the inability to quickly preview different audio files in my mix during playback.

That's the only thing I miss about FL right now. I could just right click on a sample or loop in the FL browser with the channel selected and it would immediately replace the current audio file.

This made it easy to audition loops or samples in the context of my mix.

Right now I have to go file - import and import the audio file, get rid of the old file and then copy the new audio file over 4 bars and hit play again. This takes too much time when I have a ton of hi hat loops (which I made myself btw) that I want to audition to see what sounds good in my mix.

Any ideas? If I can't do this in Cuabase, is there a VST that I can use? Maybe a loop slicer or something that has a file browser?

Thanks!
-Heather

What u need is a sampler, as simple as that. Dont ask me which, there are so many.. and most of em has the feature u are looking for.

marry - anyhoo ?

ok, to make my post more usefull i tell i use halion, you can preview just like audio import when you click a sample, to see if it fits in you have to click the ok button when using the audio import,
when using halion it`s drag and drop, so it`s still not exactly what you`re looking for.
I don`t have much experience with other samplers so maybe someone else can fill that in.

I use NI Battery 3 with Cubase & it sounds like just what you want. Really good VST IMO
