Let's talk earplugs.
Do you guys use them? Is there any particular brand/kind that's best? Which ones can reduce the volume and not completely kill the beat?
I like loud music, but if you find yourself at the club fairly often, the tinitus after is a pain. I hate not being able to sleep because my ears are rining for the entire day after. Nor do I want to loose my hearing by the time I am 30.
Let's face it, sometimes if you find yourself by the speaker, unless you are completely wasted, the loudness literally hurts.
I was reading some older threads about them and i am personaly thinking of purchasing a pair of those ER 20s that everyone was talking about. I dont club very often, but enought times my experiances have been negetivly affected by music that is so loud that it is painful.
Do a search there are lots of good threads about this

I used to not care either, but this semester i took an occupational health and safety course that knocked some sense into me about the importance of hearing, and how easily unreperable damage can be done.
In Ontario workers are only allowed to be exposed to 85 dBA over an 8 hour work day. When we go to clubs and party for 8+ hours listening to music that is at 100 - 120 dBA it is definatly not good for our ears.
When you damage your hearing, what happens is that some of the hairs in our ear that respond to the vibrations of the ear drum disapear.. and baby they will NEVER come back. Leaving you with a disability which doesnt allow you to hear sound in the high frequency ranges.

Oops.
thanks to Mike, I started wearing them
we wear simple yellow ones, he gets them from work
what?
everyone talks about the shitty sound zone in front of the booth at the guvernment, ive never experienced it. I wore my earplugs and i guess it got rid of all the shitty frequencies. wore them this past saturday at reverb, and it sounded great as well.
i remember at LOL wearing earplugs in the KH, i took em out for a minute out of curiousity to hear what it sounded like without them. It was like listening to a scrambled TV channel in surround sound. terrible. never go anywhere without my generic yellow earplugs.
so....im actually wondering how much of an improvement are the ER-20's ?
