I'm wondering if someone of you is making music and what kind of soft and hardware do you use?

I used to 'play' with those shitty programs, you can buy, where you only need comp.to make music, but it wasn't really good,so I leave the real work to the artists!

Drunk reason

A lot of software sounds amateur and you can't get that trancey 'feel' to a track, but reason is just stunning it's so close to harware you wouldn't beleive it unless you heard it - it sounds so professional.

I try - not too good and mainly just for fun

I mainly use Acid Pro and Rebirth.

I would like to try out any others - especially Reason - I have heard so much about it in these forums

Once I have some more ca$h saved - wanna buy me a synth - mmm gotta love them analog controls on a big fat red and black Roland!!!

very true, fruityloops/rebirth look good and are ok, but theres still a cheezy sound to them... thats where reason differs.

Posted by DfromK on Mar-19-2001 20:34:

Do you use any keyboard with Reason? If yes then what kind would you recommend?

Posted by goodnet on Mar-19-2001 21:09:

rebirth was created to make a clone of the roland 303 bass synth, and the 808/909 drum machines. the cheese image of this program developed when almost every single amatuer was grabbing this sofware and making tracks ONLY using what instruments were availible in the program (tho i have heard some impressive stuff made w/it). C'mon, i know the 303 is versatile- but using it as the ONLY synthlines in tracks? now that's kinda cheesy to me. not to mention all the rebirth premade loops that get abused :P

that's why reason is completely different.. EVERY single instrument in that program was made to do what normal rack/hardware synths do... and NONE of the instruments have a fixed sound, every one of them can have thier sound modified completely to make something new.

yep this has been another "i gotta clear things up" post by goodnet.. lol

Do u know if CE pro is availble on the net Full Version.
(i would also love to get Reason Sounds good)

Posted by tu_face on Mar-19-2001 23:25:

CE Pro is available somewhere.. i got it, i'll dig up the link, its in a thread somewhere in here.. have a look through the other pages of threads (in music discussion i think, if not try dj zone) u will probably find it as for reason, u'll be hard pushed to find a full version thats downloadable, its like over 1gb big...

The one cool thing about fruityloopz is the ts404 synth in it. its stunning. rebirth just pissed me off though... with both of them u need to download ur own decent drum samples etc else it sounds waaaaaaaaay too cheezy.

peace

I dont really understand how to use rebirth. How do u get new sounds in the synths and the drummachine. I can only use the demo sounds. Can you put your own patterns in?

Hello!

I've been playing with a tracker for about.. half a year now (Modplug Tracker, www.modplug.com) - it's a simple program, easy to use and you can make some nice stuff with it (obviously depending on the quality of samples you have at hand), but as others have posted above.. it's really hard to get a professional sound to the tracks (if not impossible) in the cheaper music-making programs you can buy..

I tried Fruityloops, didn't like it much.. Reason however, blew me away - and having listened to what you can do with it I was most impressed.. I just wish I knew where to get the full version from... (Hey, we dont all have 500 to spend )

i put no... but i tell you one thing, some WIIILLLDDDDD sounds come out of my ass every now and then
