Smile Going from PC 2 TT's

I've finally decided I'm gonna save for some firepower... some TT's and a mixer. I've got this summer to work before I go to Uni, and i was thinking 2 Technics 1210 M3D's, a Vestax PCV-275 Mixer, and a pair of Ortofon Nightclub carts. This and a big mail order of some vinyls

Now this is obviously gonna cost me some because as u can see the kit I want aint middle of the range. I've got Sennheiser 280 Pro's now and I believe my Lounges soundsystem should be kosher enuff for me to practice on.

What do you guys think, & does anyone know a good place in the UK to buy this stuff?

Cheers, Spectra

cheers mate, i am getting the exact same thing!

except, i am gonna get Ortofon DJs, save a little dough for vinyl, i hear the nightclubs aren't really all that much better to warrant the extra money.

i'm getting my turntables for $650 each, without needles, from a local music store.

i think i am going to order my Vestax 275 from hollywooddj.com, they seem to be the cheapest.

right now, i am using some Optimus (radio shack) headphones, don't laugh, they sound awesome, and work great. but, i do want some sennheiser 280s eventually.

i'm also getting some cool Hooj Choons slipmatts.

not sure where to find my needles though, any ideas?

Don't order from hollywooddj.com, I've heard bad things about their service. Instead do what I did: e-mail www.musiciansfriend.com and get them to price-match HollywoodDJ's price. I just ordered a PCV-275 from Musician's Friend for $369.99 (their regular price was $419.99). Shipping to east coast USA was about $17. (I have never ordered anything from HollywoodDJ, so I'm not trying to slam them. I just know Musician's Friend has a good reputation.)

I also went for the Ortofon DJ's (the blue ones). No regrets here! Check this thread if you want more info on stylii/carts: Which Ortofons are the best?

So, where are you buying the Hooj Choons slipmats from?? I gotta have a pair of those!

hmm..

someone else said that they ordered from hollywoodDJ and everything showed up quickly, and in good shape.

i think it was.. veldrid? yeah.. i think so..

as for the hooj slipmatts..

i'm tempted NOT to tell you, because then you will outbid me for them. but.. oh well, i'll tell you anyway, cuz i am a nice guy.

on ebay. tons of stuff to be found there.

Yea, I'm not trying to slam Hollywood DJ, 'cause I never ordered from them before. I just feel more comfortable ordering from a bigger name company.

Hmm... You might want to do a "buy-it-now" on those slipmats. The buy-it-now price is only $2 more and someone might jump on them (esp. if they see this thread ) Don't worry, I promise I won't snatch them from you, I'm a nice guy too! Seriously though, you should jump on those. I'm a veteran ebay'er and I still get sniped occasionally...

yeah, maybe you are right..
there are no bids yet.. but..

*caves to the pressure*

I just bought em.

$22 american for a pair of nice slip matts is a good deal right?

i also just spent $49.49 US on ONE record.. ouch..

it damn well better arrive in good shape!

I wish you the best of luck in getting your TT's.

When I got mine for the first time and tried them out I was pretty excited.

Buy some vinyl, learn mixing, and join the community!

Sorry if I pressured you! If the buy-it-now was more than $4 over auction price, I would have said wait it out...

I just contacted the seller, and he has 3 more pairs to sell. If it makes you feel any better, I'm buying one pair from the seller at the same buy-it-now price that you did ($22).

From what I can tell, most slipmats usually cost around US $20 (at least in the USA they do).

Good luck with the TT's. I just got mine and I'm bouncing off the walls!

wicked man, wicked.

I have always ordered my stuff from pro sound and stage lighting (www.pssl.com) they have always been fast and reliable, plus they have decent prices. so maybe you should check them out too.

Yes it was I that made the statement that Hollywood DJ was a decent place to order from. I got my 275 from there and I ordered my carts from there yesterday (Ortofon Concorde DJ's w/extra Styli for $85 each), but I have some major complaints with them since my last post. They ship the shit to ya fast they are just a pain to deal with at times.
