blah.

I just got out of the hospital this morning after an almost fatal car wreck on Sunday after church. I suffered a broken leg, fractured ankles (both) and a few shards of glass in my neck. There is a big possibility I'm getting pins this friday in my leg. What a fucking holiday eh?

Here is a pic my brother got from the junk yard. The car (my friend's), as you can see, was made to shits on impact. Sorry Packer, I wanted to die but they said I was too cool to die now.

Wow Carlos Thank god you're ok.

I was in a car accident during the summer too but it wasn't as bad as yours.

I hope everything works out for you...

Thanks bro. Much appreciated

The accident is definitely not stopping me from doing what I like to do. Right now I'm buying choons off beatport and completing my year mix. Thank God for wireless internet

I'm most definitely shitting bricks about Friday. Depending on the x-rays taken yesterday, it's yay or nay on Friday for pins.

For those of you that do not know what an accident is like, I hope you never go through one. And if it so happens that you are in one, I pray it is something minor and that God keep you in the palm of his hands. Let me tell you, an accident is BY GOD, the scariest thing ever. The only thing I was doing on Sunday around 1pm was driving on Highway 59, and all of the sudden BAM! I see nothing, I feel nothing, I hear nothing. Everything around me is empty. Words can't explain what going into shock is like. It is something that changed my life forever. I think it's just fucked up how something can happen that quick.

I woke up Monday wondering why my mom was beside me with a bible in her hands... She then explained that an 18-wheeler tried to dodge a car and ended up on my rear.

yikes. thank God you made it out alive. I've never been in a severe bike or car accident, but I was the sudden victim of a life threatening and life changing trauma when my lung spontaneously collapsed. My health and my military career vanished in 2 seconds. I understand exactly what you mean, it's incredible these things can happen so fast and with so little warning, and I've never felt sheer terror like that before. You'll be in my prayers, pm me for my contact info if you want to chat.

need us to send dirks mom as a nurse to take care of you?

jk. Hope you get well soon man. Let any of us know if you need anything, we're a pretty tight knit community and we should be willing to help you out.

I'm the one in the war zone. WTF are you doing getting busted up?

When the metaphysical questions start to avalanche in your head, it helps to talk to people about it. Just a reminder.

that will buff right out!

Damn thats crazy how your life can change just like that. Glad to hear your OK and that AvB still has one of his fanbois still around Best wishes on your recovery!

Good God Carlito!!!!!!!!!

I had an accident of about the same magnitude when I was 17, so I know what you are feeling and thinking.

Glad to know you are alive and not hurt beyond total repair.

Just like Nathan said, talk about this A LOT to other people and get it out. I bottled it up for years and kept it a little to close to me.

God's Speed

No need to apologise Carlos

Good to hear you come out of this 18-wheeler encounter in reasonably good health mate. Fucking sucks still, but it tends to make you happy for the good everyday shit in your life eh! Glad you're alive chief, and good luck on fri.

tip: listen to progMOJADO - Phased Array and feel better

That was a bad accident you got into, good thing youre still alive.

Its interesting how many times you have GOD in your post now. Hopefully you don't forget about GOD when youre well & recovered. Keep your Faith alive.

I hope that you have a fast & painless recovery.

Most definitely not bro. And thats the reason why I mentioned God that many times. Not only was he with me that day, but he gave me another chance at life. I'd rather not talk much about religion here (obvious reasons being). But I do keep God first in all things I do, and that my friends, cannot be argued or condoned.

Crazy thing is, I was listening to "Matt Nathanson - Car Crash" that same day, which I realized when my brother ejected the cd at the junk yard. That shit makes me cry bro... it's just unreal. It's crazy how many turns life can take. Its even "crazier" how much more you appreciate life after something like that. It's like...one of those things you think you won't ever go through, until it happens. And when it does, you realize you aren't as invincible as you thought.

Posted by Carlos Pereira on Nov-23-2007 22:28:

went in this morning for the 2 hour surgery and I thought I was getting in 3 pins, but only ended up getting one. The doc said they should come out anywhere between 2 to 4 weeks due to a few minor fractures in and around my femer bone and of course the broken shin. Shit looks weird from up here. I swear, they must be turning me into RoboCop or something.

Not as bad as I thought this was going to be. In fact, the few millileters of morphine I got definitely PWND me. I'm uber dizzy and the codeine is kicking in.
