Dopplereffekt and Drexciya appreciation thread

I think they deserve to be mentioned, especially with all the quasi-electro subgenres floating around nowadays...
Anyone listening to them? Thoughts, opinions?
Dopplereffekt's Gesamtkunstwerk album is pure genius, it never gets boring.
My favorite tracks are Cellular Phone, Technic 1200, Rocket Scientist and Master Organism, especially the latter two.
Linear Accelerator is quite different and with tracks a lot longer than the ones on Gesamtkunstwerk.
I think it's something you have to acquire a taste for (much like IDM) and I don't think I have...
It's too ambient for my taste. Still, worth giving a listen.
As for Drexciya, I'm still in a phase of exploring his/their music, but I already like it a lot because his/their style is rather similar to Dopplereffekt's.
Oh, and next on the list to check out would be... Anthony Rother!
Half of drexciya is also part of dopplereffekt (Gerald Donald) according to discogs, this will account for the similarities i guess
I have to say I'm not really a fan of this sound - there is the odd good tune you hear but I really don't get a lot of it and can't see how much of it would work in a club enviroment - that being said this stuff seems to be quite popular in the glasgow scene right now.
One thing I will say tho.

This release is phenomonal.
Have some trouble with Dopplereffekt, strangely. Linear Accelerator is the kind of stuff which is hard to get into and even their more "easy" work turn me down a bit (except Voice Activated. Genius.) I think I don't like their music, plain and simple.
Drexciya on another hand is excellent. Out of what I heard, Neptune's Lair takes the cake. This album is close to perfect: excellent music, excellent flow (it does really tell a story and takes you on a journey: I know those expressions have been used to death, but for once it is very real), best illustration of the Drexciyan imagery... Out of the CD albums, it's the best (I know of). There are some excellent tracks on the other releases though (Birth of New Life, Cascading Celestial Giants).
EDIT: Drexciya would have made a kickass OST for X-Com: Terror from the Deep!
Yes it's kinda funny that I would like one and not the other, as Gerald Donald was part of both of them...
James Stinson, the driving member behind Drexciya, was actually a truck driver.
both aliases have their moments. a lot of stuff doesn't appeal to me but some tracks are very nice...

Dopplereffekt are great imo. Especially "Gesamtkunstwerk" which might be my favourite Electro album of all time. The tracks might be a bit monotone at times but still they have a special and unique sound. Master Organism stands out most for me, awesome track!

Drexciya have indeed made some excellent releases. However, I find this solo work by the late James Stinson to be in a class of its own.
