Opening Celebration @ Nathan Phillips Square Nov 24 @ 7pm

I think I'm going to check it out.

Might even go for a skate if the ice skating rink is open. I haven't skated in over 10 years! DJ Boogie is playing, with a name like that it's gotta be good right? LOL.

Anyways, if there's any tips (where to stand, best view, etc) please throw them my way. If anyone else is going it'd be cool to meet up.

it's fun, very beautiful too
but the fireworks are beyond pathetic, so don't get your hopes up

I went with the ex last year and was pretty impressed...

Outside, your best bet is to stand on the elevated running track, to the West of the square (the east side is closed to accomodate projectors that light up Old City Hall). Good view of the fireworks, the lights in the square and the rink...the stage is off-axis but whatever. The steps down after the show will put you right beside the rink.

Inside, you need to go to The Sheraton Centre. On the second floor, follow directions for the City Hall room or Churchill room. Good view and WARM! If there's an event you might not be able to get there, but if it's vacant it's your best bet. If you get asked why you're there, just tell them you're staying in the hotel...I used to work there, they'll leave you alone.
