well they have had some success here.i dont if id call them big anymore but in the 90's they were quite big here.they have had several hits and their albums have sold millions of copies in the us.why?

Posted by FastFashion on Nov-27-2007 17:53:

just curious..they are really big in europe, benelux germany etc..
some people i know never heard of them in ny...

crazy guys..but jimmy is a nice guy

they were huge with their bad touch hit, I don't know what year was it but it couldn't be that long ago, after that they've been quiet here.
New single isn't doing anything for them here either, shame really, they are fun to listen,

Thanks for the link to your download, I'll give it a good listen.

thanks man!

yknow i think the main thing for being booked is my location.i think if i lived in D.C.,V.A,Phily.NY etc id have a better chance of getting some gigs.its not like i havent had gigs before ive played baltimore a few times and i have two radio shows so i think that if i lived in any of those places i could get a foot in the door SOMEWHERE.sadly baltimore promoters really are just plain afraid to try to get any kind of different sound in the area.not that its entirely their fault the club owners are just as guilty not to mention the dj's that have a strangle hold in this area are to blame as well(im talking to YOU leni k).its easier for them to hire the dj's that they know who are familiar to them(and only them).

let me describe the scene for you here currently:
98% of the clubs here are not "clubs". there "lounges"(fancy word the promoters here use to make a place sound trendy).in reality these places are just bars with some ikea furniture thrown in em.theres pretty much only one club for dance music and its more of a rent venue then a club.

the music here is an afterthought.the dj is pretty much only there for looks.stick a mannequin in some trendy clothes, put it behind some turntables and put in a mix cd and you got the same effect.the main focus of these "lounges" is for beautiful people to be seen and how much the promoter can make by setting up quote:"v.i.p." tables.

the promoters and dj's all know each other.and since they know each other these are the guys who get the gigs. but mostly what helps these djs is they have entire music setups(speakers amps tables cdj's pa system etc.)this makes it even easier for the promoters as they can set up in any location at these bars and not have to rely on the bars to have setups.so the same djs get gigs because they lug around all their equipment from bar to bar.

this is just a SMALL taste of the baltimore nightlife.trust me it gets worse. and its hard to say anything about it because as a dj it sounds like im just bitter at not getting gigs.but im speaking as just a fan of the nightlife here. id be grateful if ANYONE came into this town and shook things up.im happy doing what im doing now and i love doing my radio show! and i have a career so im not able to chase down gigs like some djs can. i just keep doing what im doing and see where it goes.will things change in baltimore? doubt it. but stay tuned....
