moron drives 219 mph on arizona highway [youtube]

You'd think he would consider trying this on a track rather than putting other drivers on the road at risk? What an asshole. He doesn't deserve that car

Companies test cars on the autobahn all the time. From the beginning of the video, it looked like he works for Lambo.

Posted by spc on Nov-27-2007 21:18:

I don't think Lambo employees are test-driving an LP640 on an open public highway in Arizona

Because he was at a gas station?

Wow... flame me please. I could've sworn I saw some official thing fly across the screen. Shows how zoned out I am right now.

Haha, it's alright. I figured you weren't paying that much attention since arizona highway was in the title. If this was on the Autobahn it would have been a different story. The difference between the Autobahn and US highways is that you expect people to drive really fast that most everyone follows on the Autobahn. In my area, when the speed limit is 65 mph, you expect to see someone driving between 60-80, 100mph tops...not 219. He's going a bit over a football field per second for christ sake.

Posted by iammesol on Nov-27-2007 21:33:

I still can't fathom how fast 200 mph is. It doesn't look that fast on videos, but it must be INTENSE in real life. I think the fastest I've ever traveled in a car was like 95 or something, so yeah, I've always wondered.

Posted by XoxidE on Nov-27-2007 21:50:

lulz i got to 100 in my 96 tahoe. :P shit started shaking so i had to stop.

Posted by barbina on Nov-27-2007 21:59:

If I had that car I'd do it.

Posted by nchs09 on Nov-27-2007 22:00:

the highest i have gotten me tiny car is 120. my old one 140 and some guys dodge 180 :P

You know, I'm not expert by any means but, I would guess that these hi-performance sports cars are engineered to the point that 200 mph is relatively stable. I'm sure that the driver still gets the impression that they are going very fast but, I would wager that it is a more comfortable type of fast than going, say, 150 in a Civic. I dunno.

Where's Lilith?! She drives hi-powered cars, I bet she knows.

hah yeah the v6
you go 90 in it and it feels like 70
its how I managed to accumulate so many tickets haha
But now Im a good little driver

Posted by Lilith on Nov-27-2007 22:21:

I mean, the cars are good and they'll do the speed with aero kits that put down hundreds of pounds of down force the faster you go. But the weakest bit in this is the nut behind the wheel who screws up, or in the case of someone else on the road who doesn't see you or whatever = dead.
(hey at least they might have organs to donate!)
Road runs, I mean the usual rally-hillclimb stuff you do a slow run though to check for holes, bumps and other crap over the road before a timed pass so you know what's there.
Doing a pass where you don't know what you're in for... hmm, you're going to die!

u go girl!

Wow, 350 km/h!!! That's awesome!! Can't wait to check this out when I get home. Fastest I've ever driven is 275 km/h which is 172 mph. Always gotta check out the top speeds of all your cars, just to get your money's worth!

2000 Honda Civic SiR (riced up) - 235 km/h = 147 mph
1999 Honda Prelude (stock) - 240 km/h = 150 mph
2004 BMW M3 (stock) - 275 km/h = 172 mph

All done on closed circuits, of course

*waits for Moral Hazard to grill him*

I love how they say "time to beat". Morons. Not only do they abuse their civil privileges, but they also suck ass at knowing the difference between speed and time. Just goes to show there are lots of people with way more money than brains.

You are probably correct but as Lilith pointed out, you would also want a competent driver behind the wheel, preferrably an expert. This guy is a complete douchebag... just look at the way he slaps the paddle shifter instead of squeezing it with precision

'Riced'
It takes a bit more than rice to get a Civic through that barrier considering there are $80,000 drag civics out there which will do a 160mph 1/4 mile pass.
Like this one
I'd be thinking you might break 115, maybe 120mph in a rice bolt on one with their short gear ratios

1999 Honda Prelude (stock) - 240 km/h = 150 mph

Considering the stock ones have a fuel cut out at 112mph in north America market, um no.

quote:
2004 BMW M3 (stock) - 275 km/h = 172 mph

And considering that they are limited to 155mph stock from the factory in the north American market, not going to happen either.

All done on your x-box more like...
