laptops!
i'm in the market for my first lappy. gonna be my production/liveshow station basically.
so, i want to buy the best i can for the least amount of money.
i'm guessing 2.0 GHz dualcore + 2GB RAM would do me good. i'll sort myself out with an external soundcard and other goodies later on.
i think this is a sketch of what i need:
2.0 GHz dual
2GB RAM
~180GB HD
bunch of USB ports
firewire
comments in general? any suggestions of brands? what about sites to get a good price?
Those specs u listed should do you just fine for laptop production. I have a 2.14mhz core2 with 1GB ram and the processor can handle most things i throw at it. Wouldn't mind another gig of ram though - so if u get one with 2GB it should do a good job for ya.
if i was gonna buy a laptop, i'd probably get a mac tbh.
actually, if i was gonna buy a new computer at all i'd get a mac rofels. they're pretty good value atm.

Make sure that HDD is 7200RPM.
I run a 2.14 GHz Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM, 6 USB, 1 Firewire, 7200RPM HDD and it works brilliantly. Also runs fantastic when I boot up a different hardware profile and disable everything that isn't necessary for production.
17" Widescreen with 1920x1200 res works great too
damm apple added the 2.6 processor to their Macbook pros loool So fucking fast
Man if u can buy apple do it buy them even refurbished, they are cheaper apple refurbished shit is quality
you can actually get logic 8 pre-installed for 200USD
I wouldn't get a mac unless you really want to. My friend and I both got laptops at the same time last year. He got a mac I got a Dell and he has had to have his serviced at least 5 times. Don't believe the hype, but definitely get one if that is what you really want.
