Suggestions for Electronica/Ambient...

What would you recommend for music that is electronica/ambient/experimental/symphonic. Examples would include artists/albums like:

Vangelis
Tangerine Dream
BT (I half-to-two-thirds enjoyed TBU, which I bought last Tuesday. To be honest, there are times that I find the ambient work to be a delicate work of symmetry with lush variations and prime production. However, there are some times that it seems like a musical desert unless I'm listening it purely for introspective meditation.)
Some Aphex Twin (I'm not the biggest fan of DrillNBass, but some of it's cool)
Some Jean Micheal Jarre
Heck, some works by Pink Floyd seem to inspire the same feelings

I really hate to sound totally off-the-wall, but one artist that I have enjoyed numerous works from in the past is "Symphonic Chronicles" (mostly amatuer). His band-page can be found at ACID PLANET bandpage. He use to be very active in the very old mp3.com before it became too commercialized ( days when I got into trance thanks to Trance[]Control).

The thing I like about Symphonic Chronicles is his combinations of synthetic and semi-organic keybaord material to bring about a slightly cinematic experience (corny, huh?). However, some of his music can almost sound childish, like the works of a mega-man game soundtrack on ambient-prozack (one of the few; nitpicked downsides to his music).

You'll have to excuse my noobish question. When I take a good look at my music collection, it is primarily limited to a very scatterbrained supply of CDs, amatuer downloads, and a few internet buys. For financial reasons and for conscience sake, my arsenal of material to branch out from is very limited.

Though not totally ambient...I would check out Amethystium, Hammock (post-rock bordering on ambient at times), Lanterna (has both post-rock and ambient influences as well, mostly instrumental), Steve Roach (master of ambient-space music), Robert Rich (experimental ambient music, some space-music), Future Sound Of London (their more ambient works on Lifeforms), ATB does some pretty decent chill/ambient music like on the 2nd CD of his latest CD (great piano melodies), Jens Gad (co-producer and guitarist from Enigma) has some decent ambient/electronic music (Achiella), and finally Enigma's new music is quite spacier and more downtempo-ambient then before...like on A Posteori...if you like Tangerine Dream you'll probably like Enigma's new music, albiet darker and less of the new age influences of before.

Petran is the man to talk to about this, he loves experimental/post-rock/shoegazer and ambient music. Shoegazer music can be quite ambient, sometimes they refer to it as "ambient-rock". Space-rock is another form of music like shoegazer that mostly focused on large expansive sounds...and then just space-music which is like new age music that tries to depict space...can be quite cinematic and symphonic.

Love his work. It's been quite diverse over the years but always compelling. I will never get tired of The Pavillion Of Dreams, The White Arcades and Lovely Thunder.

Another artist that I'm starting to dig at the moment is Hybrid. No, that is not ambient, but it takes a more side-winding approach to electronica music (I'm really digging their breakbeats). I'm loving Finished Symphony. There is a lot of good ambient selections mentioned here to start with... Does anyone have electronica suggestions that are less ambient?

If you like that more progressive breaks style that's still very lush and chill. Check out Digital Witchcraft - Fingerpaint (Original Mix). Absolutely wonderful prog breaks track. I could fall asleep to it, it's so calming.
