Reason 4 collab anyone?

To fellow Reason 4 producers...

There seems to be a lot of talent on this forum considering some of the tracks I've heard plus a lot of potential too. I'm one of those guys that believes he has the potential but just not quite there yet (see link)
http://www.mp3unsigned.com/Showband.asp?id=15771

I'm pretty sure there are many others in the same boat. I thought I'd check if anybody is keen to collab on a Reason 4 project? The objective will not be to create a track although that may be the outcome in the end, the main objective will be to improve our skills - pass the track around and see who can better whats there and share techniques, suggestions etc.

My problem has always been that I have the grounding but I don't know how to get that extra bit out of for example the bass or kick etc. you know that extra meat??

In order to do this project we'd have to set some strict rules so that things didn't get out of control. I thought the format could be as follows...

1. Create a 32/64 bar Reason track with drums and bass line only (no pads, synths etc.)
2. Pass this around and see who can beef up the mix. Maybe by adding some fancy wiring and effects to make the bass and drums stand out a bit more. Even change the melody. But not change too much so we'd all get a chance to see the progression.
3. Once we were happy (by vote or something) with what we had we could add the next 32/64 bars and maybe bring in an arp or pad (again not too much)
4. And so we would build the track up like that and would each get a chance to see what techniques have made it sound better.

I haven't thought the plan through too much so not sure if there are any flaws but we could start and see how it goes.

Unfortunately would only be open to Reason 4 users as that is what I have. Mind you I do have Fruity loops too but not too good on that and then it's a question of who has vst's etc.

Anyway you could check out the link to hear what sort of skill level I'm at and if this interests you, let me know.

Well, i can at least learn a lil from your sample. As you saw i only had 4 different instruments and it wasnt as good as yours

Ok this is way to complicated & confusing for me already...but good work.

Palm - you didn't just twist some knobs dude. There is nothing left of the original (hardly)!! The bassline is now 2 totally new instruments.

Anyhow I like it but can we clear out all the instruments not being used so we're just left with the drum and bassline (mid and low).

Also I see you're using that low sort of resonant kick to drive the bass (if you mute the punchy kick), & driving both through the same channel into the vocoder / equalizer. What does that equalizer do that the MClass doesn't? Also do you usually drive the bass and kick through the same compressor?

I like that idea.. doing it in sections.. 32 or 64 bars at a time. Too bad I don't use reason.
