Info needed on the deep south of Texas

Anyone from or near Brownsville? There is a distinct possibility that I could be moving there in the short future with a new job.

Minuses?

I've heard that the city was not to nice of a place but that it is turning around.

i live in mcallen part time.... brownsville is either one of those places you love or hate. personally, i hate it. if i am going to live anywhere in the valley it will always and only be mcallen. at least in mcallen there are good places to eat and go out and shop, etc. plus, its a lot cleaner of a city. brownsville just doesn't seem that way to me.

Unless you're from bordertown mexico you probably won't like it. Hell my whole family is mexican half of them are probably still in mexico and I still wouldn't move there.

There are some awesome places in Mexico. But not on the border. Definitely not on the border.
