Posted by NuERA on Dec-04-2007 02:10:

have you been?

Here's a completely unrelated and entertaining video clip that I think sums up everyone's thoughts in this thread:

The bathroom bar is AMAZING...not only is that place hillarious but the cooky minimal only adds to the insanity!

In terms of neno this guy has consistently delivered great tunes at Circa, after Roger Sanchez he OWNED the mainroom with dark, chuggy beats that the crowd definitely wanted to hear!

Headliners can't really seem to get into a non-commercial sound in the main room (Roger Sanchez is wicked given the right elements....FUN FUNKEY BEATS!!!), the crowd is just not into the music as much. I wonder how Guy Gerber

Hopefully Circa can build a great crowd and musical experience over time because the venue is beautiful and sound in the different rooms is set up so well!

I give Circa two years then the doors will be closed

Yeah i totally agree their lack of bookings has made me stay clear of the place so far and i don't plan on poping my Circa cherry till the time is right.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Dec-04-2007 02:52:

The club needs more live sex if they're gonna get ME through the doors.

I'm going to bookmark this page, for future reference to point and laugh at everyone hating on the place after they see the things lined up for 2008...

Hell, I work with the competition, but even i can acknowledge that they've had some great names come through there.

Roger Sanchez
Justice
Riot In Belgium
Junior Sanchez
Datarock
Guy Gerber
DJ Whoo Kid
Arthur Baker
Team Canada DJs

maybe their music isn't your thing, but there def isn't a lack of bookings.

Actually the sex acts @ Manumission were performed circa 1994-98.

And for those who don't get the joke... Circa is Latin, literally meaning "about" or "around". Often it's used to show that the date specified is an approximation.

it's definitely a hit or miss place.....halloween was CRAP. The night Roger Sanchez played Skyy vodka room was amazing times Just don't like the place as of now.....it would be wicked to see them build a wicked, consistent DJ roster and crowd for future success. I'd love to see this club become apart of the house scene here in Toronto but only with the right elements because right now it just isn't that fun of a club to want to go back to.

Says the person who has never been...

Posted by ak87 on Dec-04-2007 03:51:

altho the hype of the club is attracting I do not feel like going until a DJ i want to hear spin is going to be playing
not one of their bookings so far has attracted me slightly

im sure alot of people feel this way

Posted by Endlesswave on Dec-04-2007 03:59:

Plz. It's NOT all about the talent, even if it is of huge importance to you there has been good talent brought in.

When will people stop looking at the dj line up as being the be all and end all of a good party??

Besides, wasn't the point of the scene to just party and have a dj play what they are known for AND just some music that maakes you go "WOW what the fuck was that? What song? I NEED to know." Rather then going and knowing everything?

Damned straight it is. Lol.

I work for 6 days straight until Thurs, man is that going to a drinkfest.

/end hijack.

Also, Circa has to and will cater to EVERYBODY. How will it last otherwise? By being some 'underground' house music specific only club? No way. It'll do what it was made to do, be different. In doing so incorporate the better parts of the different scenes in the city. I LOVE THAT.

Lineup may not be the end all of a good party, but it is what gets people interested in going.

I (although I think I'm not alone in this) haven't really been that caught up in the hype of the place to go just because. As such, I'm still waiting for them to bring in a good headliner to intice me to go.

From what it seems so far, Circa has gone the way of a House-only club with a scenester crowd. I'll be surprised if that turns around.
