New Label Now Accepting Demos!

A new record label called Star Grooves is set to launch on Dec. 21.

We are multi-genre record label that has one goal. To promote and release music by the artists, producers, and djs affiliated with our label. Basically, we are trying to build a community large enough to cover a lot of the aspects of the music industry, from record releases to party bookings and artist management. If any artists are interested in what we have to offer, and have unsigned tracks (NOT DJ MIXES) that they would like to be taken into consideration for release on our label, please send files as an MP3 attachment or a link to [email protected]

Cheers,
Igor

Oh, im so excited.

Jesus christ, what is the matter with money makers nowadays, beatport goes thru digital "labels" like britney spears goes thru beers.

I bet there are like 8-10 new digital "labels" being born every day out there...

at least there is something starting up faster than my next freckle.

It is acutally a good thing IMO, that is more lables around.. as it means that hopefully there would be solid promotion and more A&R activities ongoing, then A&R ARing the small lable A&R's .. small time lables as a screen I would think would bring more quality music, as people arn't going to put money into unreleaseable material (then artists can concentrate on making material rather than promoting it).. and so on.

My latest track is called bombasbali ... I don't release my music for "distrobution"

although I'm curious to see what gets put up on the site,

has anyone been in contact with them or had interest come back to them

It can be a good thing, but for the most part it's a bad thing...
Too many labels. I worked for one for a while and it all went to shit.
Too many cowboys who don't realise the commitment and time it takes. I got seriously shafted, both on payments for releases and for people I found as A&R, in turn some of them signed and didn't see a single release so I'm very cautious of them these days. Especially ones that advertise in forums (As I did for the one I worked for).

These guys may be the real deal, who knows? But given that they can't even be bothered to answer questions about it, then I would give them a miss.

If they were really serious about their stuff then they would probably take the time to listen to what's here and then approach the artists.

As a rule I am staying away from Digital labels where I don't know the people involved. Been approached by a few but never liked the tone in their messages, hence stayed away.

Thought of starting my own, but thought shit, when am I going to get the time to do that?

Word to the wise would be, don't get excited just because someone who calls themseleves a label approaches you. Check them out, see what they are about. See who is playing what from them. Actually see if there is any real credible talent there etc.

The original post almost reads as if they are saying they need to pad their catalogue out. But then perhaps I am a bit cynical.

cheers
Nem
