Dec. 6 (Bloomberg) -- A parcel bomb explosion in a Paris lawyers' office killed one person in the city's eighth arrondissement, the Interior Ministry said in a statement.

The explosion occurred at 52 Boulevard Malesherbes, a building housing several lawyers' offices and the Shoah Foundation dedicated to research into the Nazi Holocaust, Christian Charriere-Bournazel, head of the Paris lawyers' bar, told reporters.

A package delivered this morning exploded on the fourth floor of the building, killing a secretary in the lawyers' office, Charriere-Bournazel said. The motive for the attack wasn't clear, he said.

On the first floor of the same building is the legal practice where French President Nicolas Sarkozy was formerly a partner. The law firm carried Sarkozy's name until just after his election to the presidency last May.

Interior Ministry Michele Alliot-Marie cut short a trip to Brussels to return to the French capital because of the attack, the ministry said in an e-mailed statement. One other person was hurt and several were suffering from shock, the ministry said.

Police shut off part of the Boulevard Malesherbes and are looking for another bomb, a spokeswoman said.

The police spokeswoman, who asked not to be identified, wouldn't discuss who might have been the target of the explosion.

I'm still waiting for Bush to come out in support of France's war on terrorism! I'm sure he's praying five times a day to Allah that this bomb was by someone with brown skin!

it looks like this attack was in full settlement with some customers of the law firm

not sure though an architect who got accused of harassement got first arrested but later released

but this is for sure ugly ...reasons for such an act remain unknown at the moment
